No smell at all- had mine for almost a year- most comfortable shoe I have ever owned.

I would say the fit is average to wide. They definitely are not narrow.

can you wear these crocs in water, are they made out of the same material as classic crocs?

Yes you could. The light ride have an extra cushy and squishy layer on top of the regular croc bottom material. They are like walking on clouds. So comfortable and still supportive that you can wear them all day long. My son and I both own several pairs.

Is this material eco-friendly?

Not exactly sure what u mean but it is the grafío al crocs material which is rubbery and not particularly eco friendly
