Have done it multiple times and everything was dry inside.

Are the lids really airtight? Live in Florida and have problems with palmetto bugs (large roaches).

Airtightness is a tough criteria to meet. There is no obvious provisions on these boxes to achieve this. The lids are certainly well-fitting and snug and would be water tight against rain, for example. But air tightness is unlikely. Is this really necessary to keep palmetto bugs out? (We Californians have roaches of all sizes but nothing we call "palmetto bugs". These boxes will no doubt protect against our roaches.)
