Paradise Tropical Tea, Original Tea, 1-Ounce Filter Packs (Pack of 50)

Paradise Tropical Tea is one of those things you try once and then quietly become loyal to without making a big announcement about it. The flavor is light, smooth, and just tropical enough to make you feel like you are doing something right with your life, even if you are just standing in your kitchen. It is ridiculously easy to make, dangerously easy to drink, and somehow always hits the same refreshing note without trying too hard. No bitterness, no drama, just consistent, clean flavor that makes you go back for another glass without thinking twice. At this point, it is less of a beverage and more of a habit. Not a bad one, either.

I have purchased Paradise tea in the grocery store, a box of 4 bags, totaling 1.48 ounces, for about $5 per box for several years. Recently, I could not find it anywhere anymore, I don't know if they have distribution problems, but the URL on the box didn't link to anyone who was selling it, so I looked on Amazon. I was using the entire box to make a batch of about 1.5 gallons (6 quarts, one bag says it makes 1.5 quarts). Then I add stevia, and it is our favorite summer beverage. Even a bunch of the teenagers who visit prefer it to soda. But when I found it out here in the restaurant size, it's much better. Each bag is much larger, and makes 1 gallon, so I use only 1 or 2 bags instead of 4 (to make 1 or 2 gallons), and it costs about 25% of what I used to pay. It's a big box of bags, likely will last me a long time, but each bag is individually wrapped, so I think it should keep quite well. Altogether a win, win! I don't know why it's no longer readily available at retail, but this is better for me, assuming they will still be in business when I want to buy more... BTW, I also like to make popsicles in the summer, and iced tea popsicles are quite refreshing. When I use this tea, I make it stronger than usual (about 2x as strong) and dissolve in unflavored gelatin. For popsicles, I add part stevia and part sugar. You have to make popsicles with very strong flavors, otherwise they don't taste like anything at all when they're frozen, so I make them sweeter than I can stand to drink while it's still liquid. Then refrigerate it until it starts to gel, and stir it before pouring it into your popsicle molds (use dixie cups and chopsticks, if you don't have any.) But if you start freezing it before it starts to gel, or if you omit the gelatin, it will separate, and you will have popsicles that are half dark tea and half clear, flavorless ice crystals. And you have to use part sugar, or the consistency isn't right. The sugar and gelatin combo gives it a slightly smooth, viscous feel, so it doesn't melt "watery" on the tongue. Everybody seems to love these; they are less sweet than regular popsicles and more refreshing. Another good combination is to make them the same way, but using about 1/2 plain black tea (Lipton, Tetley's, PG Tea, use whatever your grocery store sells as its house brand of tea) and make the other half cranberry-apple or some slightly tart juice (pomegranate, blackberry, elderberry). Add the gelatin and sugar and/or stevia the same way, again making it sweeter than you would like when liquid. I have also used more tea proportionately, and dissolved in a small amount of elderberry jelly or syrup while the tea was still hot, which has stronger flavor and some sugar of its own, so always adjust to taste. This tea hits the spot for us! We make at least 4 gallons of this tea a week. We like to boil 4.5 cups of water, then steep one bag for 2 minutes and 15 seconds in the hot water, and then mix that concentrate with enough water and ice to make a gallon of tea. We prefer this tea without sugar, but it’s a matter of personal preference, of course. We have tried many tropical teas, as we favor passion/tropical teas at places like Islands and El Torito. We loved the sugar-free, passion tea at Panda Express, but they phased that tea out (much to our dismay)! Picked this brand after Lipton discontinued their tropical tea in stores (24-count). Each tea bag comes individually wrapped, which we find helpful when storing the tea in the pantry.

I have been searching for this tea. It used to ve available in the store for individual use but then it disappeared! I found it here and have to purchase on the larger scale but I will continue to do that. I love this tea!!!

from 2015: Taste great and I use it to make a gallon, let it stay in the pitcher, then use it again for another gallon and let it sit in the pitcher. Keeps tea strong and the cost down. I use a Mr. Coffee ice tea pot to brew it in and pour to a larger pitcher. ****UPDATE**** I purchased this 2x in past month thinking I just got a bad batch. Was refunded first one and next one was the same. I also noticed I ordered from a different vendor. When I contacted my original vendor he stated that the company who made it was bought out: Message from 3rd party seller: Good morning. Smuckers bought the Sara Lee company Paradise some 6 years ago now. All the product smuckers has made is in silver packaging. I have had occasional complaints on a few batches, but we still sell plenty. Please voice your concerns to Smuckers ................ This tea is definitely not made the same. They have cut major corners and have made the tea taste very bitter or has a "bite" to it... after taste.... so I will not be buying it again. Like many others said, it no longer comes in the clear packaging. The box it comes in is cut and shaped to fit the bags with many overlapping sides. To dilute it I made 2 batches from one bag. It still does NOT tastes as good and "tropical" as the original from Sara Lee. Very disappointed. I've opened 2 bags and have not yet had the issue others complain about regarding the bag being sealed into the individual packaging.. but I'm sure I will. To help it taste better, I have added Toranni syrup in Mango or Peach flavor. However, one should not have to add anything to a tea which should already taste great.
