What is the distance between dividers?

There is about 4 inches between the dividers. With that said, it is the width I have chosen. You attach the divider on your own. There is Velcro on the front and back of the box and on each end of the dividers. So, you can make them as big or small as you need. I have a set of dinner forks, knives, salad fork, teaspoons and soup spoons, 20 each. This box is great! Holds all the silverware with no saging on the bottom. I have taken it places and travels well.

does serving flatware fit?

Yes.... I put mine in the long way and it works wonderfully ! I have some that fits the width way also. Depends on the pieces but all of mine have fit well. I do like this product a lot !!!

Is it possible to purchace extra dividers for this case?

I'm not sure about that, but perhaps the manufacturer or vendor would know. I'd like to know as well :)

Will this fit 12 place settings and serveware (89 pcs)?

Hi Raizel, I have a 12 place settings as well, it works fine. I just organize it to store all the different component groups. My set is medium heavy. I hope it helps!
