Outperforms the pricier bigger name brands
This item performs better than the others at twice the cost. Very impressed. I did precool and placed frozen water bottles in the bottom but the first time out the ice lasted well over 5 days. That was in the Colorado mountains in July sitting in the back of my truck under tonneau cover. I would recommend packing in layers, drinks/ice/drinks/ice/etc, as the top layer turned into one solid block the first day. The rubber feet do an excellent job of keeping the cooler from sliding around in the back of the truck, no need to tie it down. Just know that the cooler is heavy.

Exactly what you need
This cooler is exactly what I was looking for. I’m not going on week long excursions and if a bear gets to my cooler it means I’m likely already dead. All I wanted was a quality cooler that would keep beer cold for a weekend at the lake. It came a day BEFORE estimated arrival date.... during the week of the Fourth of July which I can only imagine is the peak of cooler season....I was amazed. Took it out for the weekend of the fourth to the lake. 10 lbs bag of ice over top 35 beers. Put beer in at fridge temp and covered with 10 lbs bag of ice around 7:00 am Friday morning, drank at a regular pace all day Friday and the cooler was in the sun. Saturday morning it had plenty of ice. I added the rest of the beers and topped off with a 5 lbs bag of ice just to be safe. By Sunday night I still had enough ice to have a few more cold ones. I cant speak to the extreme claims that dominate the cooler advertising these days but if you want a cooler for your beer that will last all weekend in the sun, this is it. At $250 it was well worth it.

Buy an Engel, here’s why, I get nothing if you do, but you get a better cooler
Trust me on this, This is a great cooler and her is why, it will hold up to the punishment you subject it too. The latches are adjustable, and may need slight adjustment to ensure the best ice retention, they are easier to use than the Yeti, and I own yeti’s as well. I can say I won’t buy another yeti, as this cooler is cheaper and better. From the back of the truck to the boat, to falling out of both, being dragged and thrown, it has held up. Now the real abuse, here come the kids, in, out, in, out, I can say this won’t happen with a yeti until the kids are older as there latches are a pina. They have beat on it with anything they can make a sword, bat, or recently found item of destruction. Lid has not warped either, like on the so called number one yeti, that has a Sheti warranty. Save your money, pick your color and buy an Engel! Go beat the P!$$ out of it and right them a review.

Nice cooler
Use this cooler only for clean ice. The Yeti 65 holds food, etc. On a three day camping trip it held the ice just fine. Considering the price, there was a bit more ice melt than I would’ve expected.

Works great as long as there is tension on the latches
When I first received the cooler, I did a test with a couple bags of ice and one ice block. I was very disappointed that it melted faster than expected. By day 2 a third to half of the ice was melted - not what I expected based on all the reviews I read. The latches felt loose when in the closed position and there was not a lot of tension. I tried the paper test where you place a sheet of paper in the gasket area of the cooler with the lid latched shut (trapping the sheet of paper between the lid and the lip of the cooler opening). I was able to pull the sheet out with with some effort from the front part of the cooler near the latches. It was not sealing properly in that area.I loosened the screws on the latch hardware and made minor adjustments to the placement of the latches. There was a little bit of play on both the top hardware piece and bottom hardware piece. I moved the top hardware up a smidge and the bottom hardware down a smidge. I did this to both latches. Once all the screws were tightened, I tried closing the latches; it made a thunk sound when I pushed the latches all the way down to shut the lid - just what I had hoped for. There is now more tension on the latches. I did the paper test and was not able to pull the paper out.We used it on an 11 day road trip in May. We set out with 1/3 of the cooler filled with ice at the bottom and the rest of the space taken up by food. We purchased ice once after 5 days to top it off. At the end of the 11 days there was still half the original ice at the bottom of the cooler. It kept the food cold and no food was spoiled. It worked really well.

Great value, excellent performance!
Great value for a rotomolded cooler. Just returned from a 5 day trip with plenty of ice left over. This was my first nice cooler. After a lot of research, decided on Engel over Canyon, Yeti, Orca and Pelican. Do yourself a favor, if you spend this much on a cooler, research how to pack it properly. Pre-chill, blocks v cubes, ice to contents ratio, etc. Just get on YouTube. The first time I used it, I was disappointed with the ice retention but it totally user error. Really happy with it now that I know how to use it! Accessories are great, and the latches are much better than competitors in my opinion.

Rubber foot broke off on 2nd use & no warranty
Rubber foot broke off on second use. Very sturdy otherwise and definitely keeps the cold. But they certainly didn't make it easy to move around with one person and we had no unusual use after which I noticed that a foot was missing and so foam was beginning to crumble out. Then I discover that they won't cover it under warranty if bought at a discount from Amazon, even though it was new.
