If I take too many, especially selenium and potassium, I start getting muscle twitching. The neurologist told me this was an indication of toxicity. She said it was dangerous. Also my blood iron levels tend to be high. My midwife told me immediately after childbirth not to take iron supplements. I do need to take a calcium and mineral complex, but that has specific minerals directed to calcium absorption. I need to focus on just exactly those minerals, and no other minerals. Therefore I prefer to take that separately. You used to be able to get vitamins without minerals in ordinary drug stores, but now they are all in chewable gummy format. I don't want to eat all that sweetener and candy. The old vitamins, though, were smaller and had a slippery casing. These are larger and harder to swallow. They're more of a classic tablet. Still, they are not the hardest pill to swallow that I've ever taken.
