Duty RDS Red Dot Reflex Sight

Great, lightweight and very well made. The red is clear and bright (unlike some others). Its controls are simple and easy. I have an older D.E. .50. A gunsmith quickly and easily milled in as slot for the picatinny grove. Now its a perfect match and its light weight was a must for that set up. It is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Great product. Simpler than T2, yet half the price and still good quality

I have multiple optics from the very affordable Vortex crossfire and SIG Romeo 5 to Eotech EXPS 2’s and 3’s. I bought an Aimpoint Pro about 5 years ago and immediately understood why people like Larry Vickers praised the red dot so much. You turn it on, you zero it, you leave it on. With Aimpoint it’s just that simple. They’re damn near indestructible optics having survived explosions, house fires, and falling from great heights where their lesser quality counterparts would not have made it. The Duty RDS truly hasn’t been tested to those extremes yet but the Aimpoint Tradition and the overall look and feel of the RDS leaves very little doubt that it isn’t cut from the exact same cloth as it’s predecessors. Admittedly, it is the replacement at the entry level for the PRO which is significantly larger and leaves a far bigger and heavier footprint on your rifle. The RDS consists of a far more modern design and micro red dot size to give you the same great performance and battery life of the PRO in a smaller and sleeker package. Originally, the optics availability was very scarce. I only had a handful of opinions to decide if I was going to go with the RDS, spend the additional coin on a T2, or go in the way of buying another Eotech. Several nitpicks included a blue “tint” on the inside of the optic window that I personally don’t notice on the RDS at all but I can actually see quite well on the PRO. It doesn’t bother me. I can’t say what your eyes will see or not see but i do believe those reports are a bit blown out of proportion. Another popular gripe was the buttons used to manipulate the brightness level on the optic. In my opinion it’s definitely not great but it’s also not awful. It’s very tactile and responsive but I have bigger hands and fingers than most so coupling that with gloves on a relatively small switch, it just doesn’t feel as smooth as it could to me. That’s a very minor complaint because i don’t have to change the brightness much to begin with but I can see many people genuinely seeing where I’m coming from. The last talking point was the adjustment tool needed for windage and elevation. I agree that it was a strange choice by Aimpoint to almost change the formula just for the sake of changing it. Or it was changed to make another difference between the RDS and the other micro red dots in its class. I’m not sure the reason but while it was unnecessary, in my opinion, it isn’t the problem it’s been made out to be. You zero the RDS like all other Aimpoints and it’s good to go. It’s not going to require you to use the tool anytime soon after since it’s not going to lose zero. The whole argument about how bad it is simply isn’t worth talking about because it won’t affect any of us enough to matter enough. Again, weird choice by Aimpoint but it just ends up being more annoying being limited to one tool than it is anything else. My final plug for the Duty RDS is for the more niche group. It’s night vision setting looks very good. Picking up the dot under NVGs is no problem at all. I’ll still vouch that EOTECHs are still the very best when viewing through night vision but the RDS is just fine in that department. The bottom line is that you always get what you pay for with Aimpoint and their Duty RDS is no exception.

Was nervous buying on Amazon but felt more confident with EuroOptic being the seller. The RDS checks out and is authentic. Nothing bad to say about the sight. I don’t see much blue in the lens and dot is very clear. Built like a tank and great price for a name like Aimpoint.

I love the build of the Red Dot it feels very solid unfortunately when I opened it up and turned it on I noticed there was a bright bright bright red ring around the lens when you're looking at the dot, so I had to turn down the brightness I could only have it the second highest brightness up which was very very dim, without having the ring. Once you bring the dot up to something you would want it to stay, the ring was so noticeable it was radiating from the sides causing a very very distorted view. Hugely let down I did a lot of research and people seem to say this was the Red Dot to buy, but apparently they were wrong, sadly.

In addition to this Aimpoint Duty RDS - MR, I also own the Aimpoint Duty with just the 2 MOA red dot. But my newest Aimpoint Duty with the multi-reticle system, allows me to choose between a 2 MOA dot, a 2 MOA dot with 65 MOA outer circle, and just the 65 MOA outer circle. I love these new features. This is my fourth Aimpoint for the simple reason that when I grab my gun, the optic is on. I own the pro, the Micro T2 , the original Duty RDS with the 2 MOA red dot and now this one. The Aimpoint Duty RDS - MR. I love every Aimpoint Red Dot that I own. But this one with the multi reticle option is a great update to the original Duty RDS. I’m definitely pleased with my purchase.

I’ve used the CompM4, PRO, H1, T1 and am still using a T2. I was looking for another RDS and was planning to go the used T2 route but ran across the Duty recently and decided to try it. My initial impressions are “yep, it’s an Aimpoint Micro”. Apart from a few changes such as the brightness adjustment is now a rocker switch on the left side, being a little taller and 30k hour battery instead of 50k, it’s just as good as my T2. Everything about the T2 I love is in the Duty. Super bright dot even on a crystal clear sunny day, practically weightless, minimal body and bombproof construction…. For $350 less. SOLD! I love Aimpoint 😂 Quick update: I’ve seen people comment on the increased height and wondering how it aligns with magnifiers. I can confirm that aligns perfectly with the new Mepro MMX4 magnifier right out of the box. Using the default installed spacer on the MMX4 and the Duty it’s perfect.
