Would this work for a kill switch?

Depends upon what you trying to ‘kill’. The short answer is NO. This would need to control a relay that you would use in the kill circuit as this device is limited on the power it is able to handle.

Could this be used as a reverse light switch on a side by side?

Yes but you will need to add some electronic circuitry for this.

Does this need to use a resistor between V+ and Data out? If it does, what resistor did you use

A pull up resistor wasn’t needed for my application
