does this turn on cable box and t.v. at same time? my mother has a remote and she's always turning cable off but t.v. on so t.v. wouldn't come on she

Hi Betti,
The EasyMote was designed to be as simplistic as possible so it is not possible for 1 button to do multiple commands.

However, you can program another button to act as the cable box on/off command. If your mother does not or rarely uses the 'Mute' button then you could teach the remote the command of turning the cable box on and off. This would be the only possible way of doing it for the time being.

We are currently in the process of designing a new remote to control both TV and Cable box at the same time but will have to be slightly more complicated.

What size batteries does this remote require?  And how many? (I'm amazed that I need to ask this; it's not listed in the product information section!)

Just set up one today and it uses 2 AAA batteries, not included with the remote.  after about 20 button presses i hit the code to change channel, i pressed "mute" and it was all setup.  pretty easy on a Vizio TV.  I worry the backlight may  use  batteries  too fast but i see it can be disabled if it  does.  Time will tell.  Much easier remote without the 50 extra tiny buttons no one ever uses.

For Dish and DirecTV, you can hide the unwanted channels, making it fast when you scroll up and down the list.  I don't remember how to hide channels on Dish, but on DirecTV, you create a Favorites list of the channels you want to see, and then you make your favorites list active.  Like magic, you have hidden all of the unwanted channels!  I did this a week ago at my mother-in-law's house.
