The first picture book in the bestselling Escargot series about a cute French snail and his laugh-out-loud adventures. Escargot is an adorable French snail who only wants two things: 1) To be your favorite animal, and 2) To eat the delicious salad at the end of this book. Except this delicious salad has a carrot in it. And Escargot hates carrots. But when he finally tries one―with a little help from you!―he realizes that it’s not so bad after all. From New York Times –bestselling author Dashka Slater and former Pixar animator Sydney Hanson, Escargot is an irresistibly sweet and charming story about a snail who might be a picky eater but definitely wants to be your new best friend. This hilarious and interactive addition to the award-winning Escargot series is the ideal read aloud for story time and animal lovers alike. Escargot is also available as a board book for babies and toddlers up to 3 years old. Don’t miss Escargot’s other funny and heartwarming adventures for kids ages 4-6 in: ● A Book for Escargot ● Love, Escargot (also available as a board book for babies and toddlers up to 3 years old) ● Escargot and the Search for Spring (also available as a board book for babies and toddlers up to 3 years old) Review: Sweet and interactive - My child loves this book, we have such a good time reading it together. It’s engaging with the snail speaking directly to the child, and teaches several lessons along the way. Review: Cute snail adventure. - This is a cute story. Even better if you read it with an accent. Love that it has lots of interaction during the story. Seems to be a well made book although mine came with the final page folded over so there is a permanent crease. Hopefully it won’t tear away after a few times but of reading this book.

Simply adorable and fun!
This story has become one of my son's favorites. It's about an adorable little French snail who just wants to be accepted for who he is and on his journey to try new food. When reading this interactive book with a French accent it makes for a wonderful time for my son and I! And my personal opinion for the adults who found it uncomfortable: I get the impression that they don't understand French culture and it SEEMS as if they expect a book to teach their children about body boundaries. I make sure my child knows who is acceptable to hug and kiss and who is not. And that his body is is own and never do anything that makes you uncomfortable with it. I empower him to make those kind of choices while teaching him. Bottom line: let's enjoy this sweet book with wonderful messages, be understanding of another culture and take on parenting and teaching our children as our personal right and mission. We can enjoy some things as entertainment but not take them entirely seriously. Cést la vie!

The absolute best children's book I've ever read
Perhaps I'm easily amused, but I think I enjoy this book even more than the kids do. And my kids are pretty darn obsessed so that's saying something. This story has it all...excitement, hope, fear, love, determination. Plus, the illustrations are to die for...they add so much to the experience. All this to say if you appreciate unique, cute, and compelling characters and things...Escargot is your guy!

Not in French
Cute book, but when I did a search for "French books for kids", this came up. Clearly not French. I should have been more careful.

YES!! Witty. Great illustrations. A Favorite!
This book is a delight for young readers and advanced readers alike. The illustrations are bright and fun. The tale of this charming snail had us chuckling. Cute book. Held the attention of both a preschooler and an elementary aged child who is an advanced reader. We liked it so much that my children asked to buy a copy as a gift for a friend! As an aside, I secretly hoped it would encourage my kids to try new foods - I don't know that it did. Maybe that would work for you. But now we point out escargot every time we see it at the grocery store, and it has broadened my children's food saavy and sparked conversations when we watch Master Chef Junior or other cooking shows. Charming book. Recommend!!! Five stars.

witty and a nice way to challenge snail stereotypes obviously
Clever, witty and a nice way to challenge snail stereotypes obviously. There are a few 'interactive' elements which are simple and a nice touch. My three-year old son's half-french so the smattering of french words etc allows me to put on a ridiculous french accent when telling the story. I think I love it more than him, but he enjoys it too. Like to see more from this author.

Fun Read - Great Series!
We adore this series, highly recommend. This is my second time purchasing as I wanted the hardcover to keep with the rest of the hardcover collection (we first bought as a board book). My daughter and her class loved it too. Beautiful illustrations, cute and funny storyline…how can you not fall in love with Escargot! This series is a Must have for your library, or at least the first two books.

Love this book!
What a fabulous book! As other’s had suggested, I read it in a French accent. Such fun and the children adored it, asking for it again and again.
