Good soldering iron
Very nice unit. Heats quickly. Love the six different tips - very easy to change.

Great fix
This kit actually works pretty good. It comes with extra things you could use later on. We used it to “weld” a wire from some wheel lights for a truck. The lights started working once they were connected with the kit.

When I used this soldering iron, I realized what a piece of crap my old soldering iron was...
I'd had my old one for probably 15 years, bought off the wall of a hardware store for something I was working on at the time that is since forgotten. I believe it was 30 watts, and while well-constructed, it seemed to take forever to heat anything up and soldering was difficult, making me think it was me doing something wrong or not doing what I should be doing to make things work. This new soldering iron is like night and day as far as how it heats and works. It made a recent small soldering project so much quicker and easier, I kicked myself (not literally) for not getting one a long time ago. The reason for the four stars is because of the temperature control. It works, because I did my soldering on a lower temperature, which worked great, and then as a test I cranked the temp control up to full power. In a couple minutes the whole end of the iron, not just the soldering tip, was starting to glow red, so the control definitely works. I don't know if the numerical temp values are accurate as to the actual temperature of the soldering tip, but it's easy enough to tell the green numbers from the red, so you know when you're heading into 'super hot' territory. The problem is that it just feels a little cheap to me, like the control may be the first thing to fail. Also, the print on the sticker affixed to the control knob is so tiny I can't read it with my fifty-plus-year-old eyes. The stand, tips, and all the included accessories, including the solder (which I used for my soldering project), all seem to be of good, functional quality. Overall this product is a great value for the money, given all you get with the iron. For the person who only solders a few times a year like me, it will probably last you a long time. If you solder eight hours a day, you'll probably want something better, but for my purposes this will do just fine and will probably (hopefully) last the rest of my life. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Great little kit. Amazing value for the cost.
I've been using a garbage tier 15w soldering iron for the better part of 10 years because I convinced myself it wasn't worth spending the $100+ for a good soldering station. I saw all the good reviews on this kit and the price made my jaw drop, so I tried it out. I bought this primarily to repair my oven which had a shoddy connection on the bottom bake element which had it intermittently working, but I also thought I'd try to resurrect a still decent, but dead, graphics card. Both repairs have been successful and this little iron has already saved me at least $500. This kit has already paid for itself several times over in the first week I've owned it. It heats up fast, the tips are nice, and the included solder does the job. I'm confident that this little iron could do anything that a $100+ iron could do in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing. I haven't needed to use the desoldering pump, but I did try and use it because it seemed gimmicky/cheap and I didn't think it would work. I was wrong, it does exactly what it's said to do and sucks the bead of solder right up. If you're new to soldering, or have been doing it for years, this is a great kit to start with, and a great kit to have as a backup. For someone who repairs electronics, there is literally no reason not to buy this kit.

Love this kit, so I bought another.
I did have to add smaller diameter 0.8mm flux core wire and a little tin of tip tinner to round out the kit. Nice kit though. I needed one for work so I bought another for home.

Ok - not great, but OK
I am an experienced electronics hobbyist and own better soldering irons and tools than those provided in this bundle, but I ordered it because I'm staying at a place where I don't have access to my usual workshop and needed something quick 'n dirty to use until I get my workshop moved. I chose this kit based on the positive reviews and the fact that it included most of the basic tools one needs for soldering jobs. It does come with a decent set of accessories for the price. I especially appreciated the inclusion of an assortment of replacement tips for the iron. None of the tools are of exceptional quality - either exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. Here are some of the good and bad points: [bad] Most of the tools exhibited some "fit and finish" deficiencies, some minor, others not-so-minor. The temperature dial label on the soldering iron was not seated on the dial evenly. The soldering stand is too light and has a tendency to tip when the iron is placed in the holder - a significant safety hazard. The iron spring holder attaches to the base with only one screw (and no lockwasher) so it has a tendency to loosen and move about (yet another safety hazard). The wire stripper is a joke. The tweezer tips do not quite line up parallel to each other when closed. [bad] The soldering iron takes over 90 seconds to reach solder-melt temperature (with the temp. dial set to 350 C). This is about 3x slower than my Weller station. There is no indication on the iron that the tip has reached the set temperature. [good] The case is nothing special, but it does make it easy to keep everything together and transport. The quality of the case is decent. [good] As previously mentioned, one of the included items in this kit are replacement tips for the iron, in an assortment of shapes/sizes. It is unlikely that I'll ever have to locate and buy tips for this. [good] The iron includes an inline power switch - a nice convenience. [good] The iron is compact and lightweight. I was comfortable working with it. [neutral] I kinda wish that the kit had come with a small amount of solder braid (wick), some rosin and some tip tinner - if it had, it would have truly been a complete soldering kit. However, some of these items can be a bit costly so it is understandable why they were not included in an inexpensive kit such as this. Would I recommend this kit to a friend? Maybe. If price were an overriding concern, and the use of the tool was for light duty work, I might recommend it - with reservations.

I have no prior soldering experience. I've used it to successfully swap pickups in one my guitar. The price of the kit, is cheaper than the cost of a technician to the swap.
