Good toner
This seems to be a good unit, though the instructions leave something to be desired. Both parts require a nine volt battery. (2x9v) (Not a biggie, but also not in documentation.) The tone generator looks like it has two leds, a telephone butt connector, two alligator clips and what looks like an rca jack. (It isn’t an rca jack) what looks like an rca jack is actually the tone generator function switch. (This is not mentioned in the quick start guide.) Once you have batteries and the switch turned to tone, it works well. Even with the volume off, the led flashed to show the tone. Overall works well, but assumes you are comfortable with similar models.

Buy it, You will not be Sorry!
I was looking for a cable in the wall for about two months unable to find. I received wire Tracer and ten min. letter I had found it and replace it. Best Purchase!

Excellent!!!
I had an open neutral in my camper and this was perfect for finding it. I had tried several other things over the coruse of 2 weeks that didn't work, but this helped me find the problem in less than 5 minutes. Good price (especially for something you don't use very often) and it was much less expensive than the other brands you can find at Lowes or Home Depot

Not quite pro gear, but good value.
Signal falls short on longer cable drops. Anything less than 25 ft, it is great. Definately can't beused in a professional setting with longer drops.

defective product.
Don't buy! terrible product. We have ordered it twice and could only be used once and then it does not work. Amazon return window is closed so we are stuck with a broken product.

100% the same as Progressive
I retired from telco, and I've gone through many, many of these. They'll come with different names, but this is the 100% same product that $ for the name. Treat it moderately well, and it'll last you forever. *tool trick* #1 When the tone generator battery is fresh it will bleed signal all over the nearby conductors. Instead, switch to the tone function and leave it on the counter overnight. This will tone (pun) it down a bit. After that it'll settle down to a sweet spot. #2 Power check. These toners are capable of recognizing up to 90V ac/dc, and can take 120V for judicious periods. Attatch it to to your item in question? Lit? You have power. #3 Loud or bleeding over situations: With the probe. Place the speaker near your ear, touch the tip with your index finger. Then press 'on' with your finger and adjust the volume with your middle. Using the spare tip, finger, etc. that safety allows, to probe, hear, and isolate. #4 Under ideal conditions, on a hot battery, you can send signal on 24 gauge wire for ~5/8 mile (1km). #5 Fence broken. Tone here/not here. #6 Stereo; will send signal to after amp speakers. Networks (buy a bag of M to M 8 pin couplers to be a hero) and chase cable issues. NOTE: I've tried all of the popular network specific products and this is the consistent best. I always carried 2 of the generators, with the signals set to different tones. Saves Hella amounts of walking. The continuity feature is great for a quick test for a short.

Died on first use
Tested good originally but the Tone generator died on first actual use. Fortunately, the polarity function still worked, so I was able to complete the job although iy took much longer than if it had actually worked.

Works but cheaply made
I purchased this for a handyman project. It got the job done but its made very cheaply and wouldn’t recommend if you’re expecting to use it for a “life time” tool. My biggest complaint is you can’t tune it down to pin point an exact wire if you have multiple wires in a bundle. It gives a loud tone even if you are within a 12 inches or so of the wire. So it’s hard to eliminate other wires if they are close. Also, it requires two 9 volt batteries to operate which I didn’t expect. Probably OK for an occasional project but won’t recommend if you need a more accurate tool. But you get what you pay for I guess.
