It says batteries are required. I thought this was self generating?

Hello and thank you for contacting us. Sorry for the confusion. Yes, the Helix HLT2500 does generate it's own power but because of the unique dual directional movement, when changing directions, the 4 x AA batteries maintain the consoles power while changing direction.
