First of all, I think I should say, I'm probably not the best suited to write this review. I'm not the bird lover my brother is, but I do enjoy watching them and watching them go at this concoction the way most of us went at Kool Aid when we were kids. The sugary substance (when mixed properly as directed) really brings the hummingbirds in. We live in Miami, Florida and apparently hummingbirds thrive here, only they are so small and fast, one hardly ever notices unless they try. We have 5 hummingbird feeders on the grounds and a fair amount of bushes, plants, flowering vines, small trees and bigger ones where the hummingbirds show up and buzz around, but nothing brings them into view better than this Perky Pet hummingbird food (it's basically a nectar). The other day I'm on a call with someone discussing something that was giving me heartburn. My brother had set the feeders out earlier and was walking around. I look up and see this beautiful hummingbird with the red belly basically hovering in the air, going at the nectar. Then he hit some flowering vines and went away. It came back a few more times, always going to the feeder. My heart felt lighter, the call didn't seem so bad, not the subject as important. And that's because I have to remind myself to see the beauty of the little things. Anyway, before this time, I've seen them hit all the feeders, and often in groups. The smallest I've seen looks about as big as a medium sized moth, but I'm not 100% sure if it was native to us or the Cuban bee hummingbird (we are about 230-240 miles from Cuba. Who knows.) Others I've seen have green plumage. The nectar brings them in. We have normal cheap plastic feeders with the atrocious fake yellow flowers at the base and others made of blown glass with no flowers, and it doesn't matter. They come to feed. Ants do as well, but the way we see it, nature deserves a break, so we don't kill ants unnecessarily. It's easy to mix and use. The quality in my opinion is good. The birds like it. It brings them around and keeps them around. We've created quite a bird habitat here with feeders and hanging seed houses and it's always a relaxing delight to see the bluejays, cardinals, finches and morning doves come to feed. We get everything, even the hawks that show up to terrify pigeons and the one time we saw the full grown osprey gliding about 12 feet above the pool and very near the rabbit enclosure.
