Treasure hunter Nathan Drake, a descendent of explorer Sir Francis Drake, learns the whereabouts of El Dorado, the fabled South American golden city. Review: Not just another 'treasure hunter' movie! - "Uncharted" is a 2022 American action-adventure film, from a screenplay by Rafe Lee Judkins, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway, based on the video game franchise of the same name developed by Naughty Dog, starring Tom Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan, with Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, and Antonio Banderas in supporting roles. With some reference and much departure from the game, the film "Uncharted" tells of the fictional treasure hunting adventure of Drake and Sullivan in a race against corrupt billionaire Santiago Moncada (Banderas) and mercenary leader Jo Braddock (Gabrielle) to locate the fabled lost treasure of the Ferdinand Magellan expedition. The storyline is gripping, captivating, and enthralling, presenting a battle between good and evil in an exciting, fast-moving mystery of perilous journeys and puzzling obstacles in a daring quest to retrieve a fantastical treasure, uncovering ancient maps and deciphering cryptic symbols, traveling through thrilling expeditions and dangerous terrains set with cunning traps in exotic locations, in a wonderous adventure about the unknown. The location settings, even though they are productions of cinematic techniques bridging the gap between real-life locations and elaborate virtual ones, are nonetheless convincing and realistic, transporting the viewer into this enthralling adventure, ever moving and ever changing, moving quickly from one danger to another. I do not see actors in a movie; I do not see behind their masks. I do not see Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, or Antonio Banders as the characters they portrayed before. They are beyond appraisal here for the past once I enter this new realm of fantasy. I see only the mask, the person whom I am meant to see, as if I were visualizing them in my mind from reading about them in a novel. I see them here as Drake, Sullivan, and Moncada. I am convinced that they are true-to-life 'real' people. Their appearances, their mannerisms, their voices, their actions, interactions, and intentions convince me they are who they represent themselves to be. They are charismatic and charming, even the villains. They are formidably clever, determined, mischievous, and emotional – even the villains. I am there, awed, in their midst. They set the tone and atmosphere, conveying the mood, emotion, and style of the story, and their characterizations of heroes and villains are harmoniously cheerful and carefree, exciting and lighthearted, mysteriously and magically holding your interest as if by a spell and leaving you with a lingering happiness. This is a feel-good movie. Comparative reviews are typically biased by the reviewers subjective opinions as opposed to objective values and not a critique of the unique faults or excellence in the production being reviewed. Such biased comparisons are pointless. Each movie should stand on its own excellence as to the appeal of its theme, production, and casting. Comparing "Uncharted" to "Indiana Jones", "Tomb Raider", "National Treasure", "Sahara", "The Adventures of Tintin", "Fool's Gold", "The Lost City", "Jungle Cruise", and more in the 'treasure hunter' genre and rating one more highly than another does not mean that the least is not as entertaining. Yes, some will be held better or worse than others, and sometimes even the worst is better than the best in the minds of some. Far better to not compare. Watch and make up your own mind. I quite enjoyed "Uncharted," and I bought the disc to add to my collection. Released in theaters on February 18, 2022, and on Blu-ray – DVD on May 10, 2022. Review: Forgot - Great movie !!

An Adventure to Treasure!
As a fan of the "Uncharted" video game franchise, I was thrilled to hear that a movie adaptation was in the works. And now, having watched "Uncharted" on 4K UHD, I can confidently say that the film does justice to the source material. The story follows Nathan Drake, a charming and skilled treasure hunter, as he embarks on a quest to find the lost treasure of the pirate Henry Avery. Alongside his mentor Victor Sullivan and the headstrong journalist Elena Fisher, Nathan must navigate dangerous terrain and outsmart his enemies in order to claim the prize. The movie is visually stunning, with breathtaking action sequences that look even better in 4K. From the lush landscapes to the intricately designed tombs, every detail is captured with clarity and depth. The sound design is also top-notch, immersing the viewer in the world of the movie and making every gunshot and explosion feel impactful. But what really makes "Uncharted" stand out is its cast. Tom Holland brings a youthful energy and charisma to the role of Nathan Drake, while Mark Wahlberg is a perfect fit for the gruff and wise-cracking Sully. The chemistry between the two leads is palpable, and they play off each other with effortless charm. Overall, "Uncharted" on 4K UHD is a must-watch for fans of the video game series and action-adventure movies in general. It captures the spirit of the games while also telling its own story, and the stunning visuals and talented cast make for an unforgettable experience. If you're looking for a thrilling adventure, join Nathan Drake on his quest for treasure and watch "Uncharted" on 4K UHD!

Tough to watch for someone who doesn't know the game franchise.
My wife and I love to watch movies, now, on Bluray or 4K and this title certainly has all the multimedia qualities we would expect from a new Bluray film. Having said that, we think it might be helpful to add a review to the dozens of other reviews simply pointing out: If you're selecting a movie to watch as a family, this might not be a good choice if others have never heard of the Uncharted franchise. Watching this with my wife, I was thrilled, enjoyed the action "set pieces" and wanted to give it 5 stars. She kept asking when it would be over and said, if she were rating it, she'd give it 1 star. "It's all just a bunch of action with characters I don't know and that the movie itself gives me no reason to like. They're all bad guys. They all lie and cheat. Who cares?" She agreed that, for me, I should add a 5-star rating to this review, "because you're a fan and people should know that you, as a fan, enjoyed this. But let's warn other customers that buying this film for a family showing may wind up with split reactions like we had." Thinking of this from her perspective, I actually agree. Nathan Drake (Tom Holland in this movie) is the only noble character in the movie and even he's an unrepentant thief with no real moral code other than that he loves his lost brother. Everybody else seems to turn on each other with no warning and the bad guys are so over the top that they're really two-dimensional cartoon characters (or, in this case, video game characters). The worst and most nonsensical plot twists involve a couple of deaths in the Moncada family that are just ridiculously unsupported by the logic of the plot. I'm not trying to argue about Uncharted with fans. What we're trying to add in this review is a helpful tip that this movie really is for true fans. And, even those of us who are fans, will find ourselves tested a bit by this movie. And it's probably not a great movie to pick up for a family night or an evening's viewing with your spouse or significant other.
