Great for the Price
The fan arrived in a well packed and protected small box in several pieces. None of the pieces were damaged, missing or non-functional. The assembly was quick and easy with only one problem. I found it difficult to affix the front fan guard onto the rear guard. I simply couldn't get the front piece to snap in, however I actually like the fact that I didn't snap it into place because I can remove it, which will make it easy to clean the blades and the guard of dust and debris in the future. I believe that if you did snap the front guard onto the rear guard it would be nearly if not impossible to remove it. That said, I did attach the front guard, it's firmly attached and is not coming off by intentionally hitting or accidentally bumping it. I'd describe it as 99% attached as only the very bottom is not snapped in around the rim of the rear guard. The actual functionality of the fan is where the rubber meets the road. The buffeting sound generated by the blades is acceptable on high when used in say a living room when watching TV where there is moderate noise that distracts or drowns out other noises. In the same environment the sound is not noticeable when on medium. Although the sound is acceptable on low when used in a bedroom while sleeping, I've found the amount of airflow to be quite generous, which I find slightly too much for sleeping, however if you move the fan farther away from you as opposed to only 1 foot away the airflow dissipates enough to be about right. Unfortunately, I have a very small bedroom and would have loved a fourth and even lower setting. My biggest and most significant complaint about the fan is one that others have previously noted. The sleep mode is not a countdown timer like that found on many TVs that turn the TV off after the time expires. Sleep mode simply turns the fan on and off repeatedly, which I can't figure out why such a feature is even needed; it's oddly irritating, annoying and stupid to watch. Nothing to worry about though as the fan has a timer function that does run the fan for a preset period of time and shuts itself off. Lastly, the remote control is an awesome feature that makes using the fan easy for the lazy man in his lazy boy recliner; just note that the oscillation feature is controlled via the typical up-down peg mechanism found on most oscillating fans - that means you'll have to get up to enable or disable that function.

Awesome fan!
I bought this fan to replace a different brand of fan after I found that it had a burnt and broken wire inside of the housing....which was a fire hazard! The Supentown fan was VERY quiet, yet it moved a LOT of air...even on the low, gentle setting! The remote control works VERY well! All it takes is one click to turn the fan on...instead of lots of clicks in the general direction of the fan hoping the signal will "connect". The cage is metal which I like. They do put a silly sticker on the clear blades warning you not to touch the fan blades while it is in motion (DUH???) That sticker is almost impossible to remove and I ended up scratching the blade in my attempt! The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars was that it's a little shorter than I expected. But that does make it a very stable tower fan and I am extremely happy with my purchase! (Incidentally..the other fan company replaced my "fire hazard" fan at no charge....even though the warranty had expired. But it's still in the box because I like my Supentown fan even better!)

Surprisingly Great Fan - much better than Air King/Lasko models
Before you buy any fan, ask yourself how you're going to clean it. Sooner or later the blades & grills will get covered in "thick fuzzy dust". Which is why I'd never buy an enclosed Vornado or vertical fan.I've always bought AirKing/Lasko fans as you can remove the grills & fan blade. I just throw them all the dishwasher. But over time, the metal grills tarnish (maybe it's the dishwasher detergent) and the fans start to rattle and they end up in the garage as backups or trash heap. This one I installed without even using the grills (no kids or birds in the house so minimal danger considering it's location) as that's 2 less things to clean. Just need to unscrew the fan blade wash with soap & water, drip dry. Easy. This one sits in the corner, on a table against white walls, behind my printer, below the wall air conditioner to boost air flow in a 400 sq ft room or blow cigar smoke out the window at the opposite end of the room. Without installing the grill & since the fan blades are tinted clear plastic, very minimalist contemporary looking. Hardly anyone notices it. No more placing a table fan on a small stool or something to raise it to the height of this one. Have not, never have used the oscillating feature (it sits in a corner, oscillating would just blow air onto the walls) so can't comment on how well/long that feature lasts.Pros:- grill is plastic. Yes that's a "plus" as every metal grill fan sooner or later has started to rattle- motor whisper quiet- remote control is a bonus I didn't expect to use but now like it- expected telescoping handle to have a tension knob that held the top at desired height by tightening that knob --- instead it is spring loaded. Just press a button, spring extends the vertical arm, release at desired height.- I know description says base is 15"+ but was surprised how wide it was upon opening the box. Works for me and the wider base gives it greater stability than a table fan. Plus no need for rubber dampers underneath like I needed with the Air King's to quiet the transmission of vibrating noise from both fan and motor. For $45 didn't expect much. If it lasts a year, I'll be thrilled. Last no-brand-name cheapo plastic table fan outlasted the Air King's by 3 years until I accidentally knocked it over and broke the fan blade.
