A: Yes, this device can send a tone to a wire and the other part of the kit will detect it.

**Q: What batteries are required for the two components of the tester?**
A: It use 9 V battery on each device. emitter-receiver

**Q: What is the range or how far away can the signal transmission be received?**
A: I’ve tested a 150!run and no problem.
