Review: Excellent camera and great value. - The image quality is clear and sharp, and setup was fairly easy. Activity notifications can be a bit annoying, though. I have one installed in my garage, and it sends multiple notifications whenever I’m moving around in there. The field of view covers my entire garage, except the far corners of the wall the camera is mounted on. The microphone also doesn’t pick up voices quite as well as my Nest camera. That said, the biggest issue is really with Google, not Tapo. Google doesn’t show video from other vendors’ cameras in the Home app (greed), so you have to use the Tapo app instead. Which is mildy annoying switching between two apps when it could be in one app. Google also only shows the last 10 seconds of video unless you pay for a subscription (greed), while Tapo supports a memory card and can store many days of footage locally. For half the price—or less—than Google Nest cameras, these are a great value for the money. I would buy them again.
Review: Excellent Camera! Too much incorrect information in reviews, and question section. - I have a slew of the Kasa smart outlets and they’re excellent. Cheap and just work. I watched these cameras for a long time before trying a couple. I’m glad I did. I got them on a good sale, around 42$ each. My buddy who is a professional security camera installer is blown away at their picture for a camera at 1/4 of his pro cam cost. Picture quality: The night vision is incredible. That’s usually where the picture quality lacks. Picture is crisp and clean when night vision is on. What is even more impressive is the cameras ability to use what light it can pickup at night and keep color and clarity. I have a streetlight that is in my neighbors yard and I don’t use night vision on 2 of my cameras because it can use the available light very well. I will say, I run these on 1080 as I don’t see any real difference at 2k. But just remember, it depends on the screen you’re viewing it on. For me, 1080 is plenty. Spot light: It’s pretty good. Not “impressive” but impressive for something that is running on 5V USB. Siren: Yup, it makes noise. You can even set it to initiate all sirens on your network at once. Siren and Alert settings. YES you can turn both off when motion is sensed. I don’t know what people are doing where they can’t turn that off. Motion sensing: Pretty slick, you can set a irregular squares to areas of interest you want notifications. For example. One cam captures the street, but I only want my walkway. So I set that section to only alert if movement is noticed in that area. Even nicer, you can set up to 4 different sections. Noise sensing/notification: Far too sensitive even on the lowest setting. A good gust of wind will set it off. This is nitpicking, but wanted to address it. All my noise sensing is turned off. 2 way communication. It’s OK. Not great. You can hear the people through the camera OK, but the speaker to them is not that great, but again. 42-50$ it’s very good. I will say, it’s possible that when you’re talking through the camera you mouth is far away from the mic on your phone because you’re also watching the video feed. Install is straight forward. Mount anywhere 110v is within the 10’ reach of the cord. I bought a 50’ USB extension cable to power one of these cameras where 110v is not nearby and it’s flawless. Can probably power sufficiently with even longer USB extension. Micro SD card storage: It’s ridiculous that TP-Link hasn’t accurately answered this question. At 1080, the 24/7 recording is approx 12gb a day. So a 256gb card formats at 219gb. Which translates to 18 days of 24/7 recording. The takeaway, at 1080 it takes 12gb a day. Different picture quality will increase or decrease the storage requirement. Saving from SD card. Again. I don’t know where the issue is. When a notification is received the on screen prompts shows you if it was a person or movement. Touch one off them and the software jumps to that event and starts playing. On the screen you’re watching there’s a “RED RECORD BUTTON” touch that, and it starts to record that selection of video to your phone. You can record anything, not just an event. But the event notification just helps locate the times something happens. Easy. No problem. Stop whining! For those that can’t figure that out, if you need to pull the SD card for insurance or police, you have a legit reason! You won’t be pulling the card daily. Ending thoughts. If you’re interesting in an inexpensive but high quality camera, look no further.

**Q: If i have an sd card added and the wi-fi goes out, does it continue recording into the sd card or would it stop working until the wi-fi comes back on?**
A: Do not listen to Aloysius Parker, he is 100% wrong. I have multiple Kasa products, including this one, and you can absolutely save anything you want from your SD card without the need to pull the card out of the camera or pay for service. The only time you cannot do it is when you don't have acces to the camera due to Wi-Fi being down ( which makes sense and in this case yes, you would have to pull the card out and insert it into a card reader to access the recordings ) but, like the Manufacturer said below, the camera will continue to record onto the SD card with or without the Wi-Fi being connected.

**Q: Video stored on the cloud won't play back. every time i try to view a stored video a message says "something went wrong. wait a moment and try again"?**
A: I battled it out for over a month with Kasa support last year over a similar issue. Long story short, the cloud storage is, at least they act like, completely out of their hands. They use Amazon for their cloud services. They were unwilling to engage Amazon to assist resolve my issue.

That all said... Besides that one major issue, and they almost lost me over it, Kasa has been a fantastic brand. Thankfully I have not needed their support more than once or twice. Once they were fantastic. The second time, see above, was the worst customer service I have ever received and I felt like I was being deliberately toyed with. Honestly, had I not already had some many Kasa devices, I would have left them.

**Q: Hoe long (in feet) is the power cable and what connecters are being used?**
A: It is a physically connected 10-foot cord with a USB-A connector.  A 2-prong U.S.-based power block, like what you would find with a cellular phone is also provided.

**Q: I'll need to use a longer power cord. will any usb-type a power cord suffice ?**
A: This cord is not detachable. To extend it, you'd need to buy a separate USB-A Male-to-Female extender.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Cameras, Better than Blink Brand

These cameras are great. I used blink brand cameras before these and Kasa is far superior, and at a reasonable price. I like them so much I actually have 4 at home. They have great video quality and I love the 24/7 recording. If you watch in live time the delay is less than 0.5 seconds and the video is mostly smooth, not buffering all the time like other brands. They are also built better and feel solid. My old blink cameras were cheap and "plastic feeling". The app is easy to use and keep track of the cameras. You can upgrade the app and features for $100/yr for up to 10 cameras. You are able to turn on and off the cameras entirely if you want, or you can disable alerts if you chose. These work off USB cords so batteries aren't an issue; however, you do need to get them to an outlet so keep that in mind. I installed mine outside and fished the wire though the inside of the wall to an outlet. I am particular and don't like the messy sight of wires... I bought a 256gb SD card for each of my cameras and that is more than sufficient. UPDATE: Cameras captured 2 guys looking in car windows and breaking one of them on my street. (Luckily my car wasn't targeted). Police asked if they could see the video and it was right there in my app. Super easy.
