SOG Survival Knife with Sheath - Field Knife Fixed Blade Knives 4 Inch Tactical Knife and Bushcraft Knife w/Full Tang Hunting Knife Blade (FK1001-CP)

I have purchased other SOG products; therefore I am familar with their high quality, along with value pricing. This knive will be utilized by myself as a boot knife attached in the hard kytek sheath with soft nylon straps to my leg just above ankle. The nice thing about this knife was low price about $35.00; therefore if I misplace or lose this knife, I won't be out big bucks. The SOG fixed blade knife is extremely light-weight, but also durable and makes for a great leg/ankle knife. Ideal for camping, hunting, fishing, and general use.

Have only had this knife one day but really like it. I usually use a Morakniv 511 carbon craftline building decks and doing misc. home restoration work, but wanted something I can take fishing and EDC. The sheath really sets it apart from the Mora. This knife rides higher on my belt and is much more comfortable when sitting or driving. If you have a "spare tire" this might not be very comfortable as the handle rides tight against your body. This knife feels fantastic in hand. I've only used it one day and it did everything I needed, from cutting vines and roots to trimming boards of incomplete saw cuts. The blade came sharp and after a pretty good day of work held up well. I'm skeptical of the 7cr17mov steel but we'll see in time. I enjoy sitting and stropping/sharpening my knives in the evenings. So I probably won't notice a difference over my Aus8 or 8cr14mov blades as I never really let them get dull. I love the sheath. The retention is perfect. The knife stays firmly in place and it's quick and easy to deploy. Doesn't feel stuck like some Schrades do with similar sheaths. The belt clip is perfect on the thick leather 1.5" belt I wear. This is gonna be a great knife to take fishing for cutting line, rope, bait etc. The Mora is still my daily workhorse, but I'm really looking forward to using this knife. This is a well made medium sized camp knife. This is the first SOG knife that I have owned that was not made in the USA. It was not sharp out of the box. This was a surprise because I expected perhaps other blemishes but a knife that appears to have been used to cut electrical cords was not expected from SOG. Ten minutes with Sharpening stones and a leather strop put things right. The edge holds well and putting it to leather between uses keeps it sharp. I use a 22 to 25 degree angle per side. The sheath holds the knife securely. I have it lashed to my backpack straps. I just don't trust the polymer belt hook.

Extremely comfortable full tang knife. It does appear to be decent quality. Honestly this will be my backup knife of choice for my doomsday survival pack. It's in the perfect sweet spot for a decent tactical knife(4-7 inch). On the smaller side hence why it will be my backup.

Das SOG Field Knife ist ein wirklich gutes Messer für die Preisklasse. Es ist zwar aus einen in China produzierten Stahl hergestellt, aber dieser hat eine vernünftige Qualität und Eigenschaften (Schnitthaltigkeit, Zähigkeit, Schärfbarkeit). Die Klinge ist ordentlich dick und der Griff wirklich sehr sehr gut und angenehm in der Hand, dabei ist es wirklich leicht!!! Ich weiß nicht was andere an der Scheide bemängeln?! Bei mir sitzt das Messer gut darin fest, wackelt nichts, fällt nichts raus. Wenn man sie an den Gürtel macht, dann sitzt das Messer wirklich etwas hoch, aber ich stecke den Klipp (auch bei anderen Messer, von denen ich einige besitze) lieber auf den Rand meiner Hosentasche. Da ist sie perfekt!!! Also, wer im unterem Preissegment ein ordentliches und robustes Messer sucht, der kann hier auf jeden Fall zuschlagen! MfG

this is an excellent knife to carry. it is approximately my favourite 5/4. that is a 5 inch handle with a 4 inch blade. definitely not too small and not too big; just right...
