All turned out right, crusty (crispy) and the bread dough inside is just fabulous, soft and almost moist- fresh from this Dutch oven (and baked inside my gas oven)!I am happy about this purchase. Am glad I did it!I was a little but skeptical at first because this was a newly featured item in Amazon last week and there was no review yet. So, I played it by ears. Likewise, I was glued with product design, craftsmanship, and the details written in the item description. They fitted right to me expectations.The large size of this cast iron enables my bread to expand to the maxim, giving it a great round shape for a country bread. It is well made, well seasoned, and free of extraneous flavors. It is the right size for a standard round loaf of sourdough or other artisan bread doughs. I had previously baked this bread in a 6-qt. cast iron dutch oven. The larger size allowed the dough to spread too much and did not produce the desired level of heat. This pot heats evenly and cleans easily, too. I debated about rating the purchase one notch lower, because getting the promised free gifts took more effort than it should have, but the pot is too good to penalize.
