I am freezing !
This is a fantastic little AC unit ! This is rated for 150 square feet @ 5000 btu...my room is only 147 square feet, and this little AC will freeze me out. I only run it on low cool / temp 6 and it keeps it cold enough that i have to turn it off. I turn it off when i get too cold because the fan never shuts off. It's basic, it does what i bought it for, and it does it very well. It's also fairly quiet, not the most quiet unit out there, but i sleep with it close enough to my bed that i can reach up and turn it on or off without getting out of bed, and i have no problems sleeping with it turned on. I highly recommend this AC to anyone needing to cool off a bedroom, den, office, any small to medium sized room. I can honestly say that i am very happy with this little AC...oh boy does it get cold in here. Thank you hOmeLabs for such a high quality AC that is affordable, my wife and i are trying to figure out how to buy a second one.

It's an easy fix. It's actually VERY quite
I almost returned this the day I received it due to how noisy it is. But keep reading. It's an easy fix. It's actually VERY quite. I wanted to reduce my home electrical bill. I work from home in central Florida. During the summer my AC is on almost constantly on. 98% of the time I'm in my bedroom with my computer and TV working. The TV is energy efficient but does put out a little heat. My computer generates a lot of heat as I'm a programmer. I keep the home A/C at 82. My bedroom is around 88 because of the electrical equipment. I have three fans running. My electrical bill this month (July 2018) is averaging about $3.89 per day ($117.00 per month). Since I'm usually only in one room I would try a window A/C to save money on electricity. This little A/C is amazing. I have a watt meter and it averages 412 watts when the compressor is on and 51 watts when it's off. My daily electricity fee is now $.98. My bill will be less than $30.00 in the summer...WOW!!! My room is 185 sq feet and I keep is at 1/3 on the temperature scale. It keeps the room 78 deg. My room faces the south and gets hit hard by the afternoon sun. This little guy is amazing!!! I read some reviews that it's very noisy. Which scared me. I almost didn't buy it. But I decided to give it a shot. When I first installed it. Which by the way is super easy. Took me less than 30 minutes. When I turned it on it was so loud. There would have been no way I could have slept with this on. I keep my TV volume at level 13. I had to turn it up to 55 to hear the TV over the A/C. I went outside to check the outside and found the problem. The compressor coil was hitting the left side of the unit (Left side if you are facing the controls). I pressed my hand against the left wall and the noise completely stopped. I didn't feel like unscrewing it and bending the pipe away from the wall. Instead, I just placed a piece of cardboard between the metal and pipe that the pipe was vibrating against. The noise completely stopped...problem solved. This little guy makes less noise than one of my house fans. I sleep like a "cool baby and my dogs love it too. Low cost to purchase, keeps my 185sq ft room cool at 1/3 settings, saves tons of money on electricity...GREAT PURCHASE...HIGHLY recommend it!

Great AC for my kids' small room
So we initially bought a fancy Frigidaire ac unit that can be controlled over wifi. In theory this was a good plan because we figured we wouldn't have to sneak into our kids' room at night to turn it off and potentially wake them. We quickly discovered that they found it hilarious to mess with it and shove things into the front vents. It was also 5k btu & waaay larger a unit than we needed for their room which is under 100sq ft. So we reclaimed the fancy unit for ourselves! I was looking for an affordable, simple, smaller AC unit when I bought this model. It may have been relatively inexpensive, but it works really well for our kids' room! It gets cold fast, and while I wish it, too, had an auto setting where it would turn off once it reaches a certain temp, we just monitor it closer. Which also works to check in on the boys' shenanigans. After having one unit taken away from them and being downgraded, our kiddos are being a little more respectful with the vents as well. I fully expect -even with our destructive boys- that this will last more than a few years even for us, and when it starts to struggle it will be of no fault of its own, but rather our kids when/if it gets clogged with paint chips, confettied paper, dust bunnies, etc *eyeroll* I'm very glad we went with it! Unfortunately, our windows are really old and our wooden storm windows are taller than the interior sill. This has caused us problems installing both units. We added a wooden ledge as instructed in both manuals and still have issues with firting. Even the fancy one doesn't seal properly with the included accordion panels. This more affordable ac unit doesn't have hard foam inserts like the pricier model, but when we have gaps even with the fancy foam version, I am not sure how much that matters. Both brands included paneling have left us gaps and we can't screw them into the window frame as advised. I think this is a situation that will be hard to avoid with older homes (ours is 103yo). I am actually glad we tried out an expensive unit first before this one because we aren't as frustrated or assuming the issue is because it's a budget price that it was lacking in this department. It doesnt fit quite as well, but it's not a significant difference either. Overall I give this 4 stars because I wish there were better instructions for how to adapt this to our windows, and because I wish it had the temperature auto off. Despite our frustration (with both units), I am actually really glad we got this one! The unit itself works as expected...I only wish I knew how to fix our installation issues.

This A.C. unit is good enough for Florida
What a great air condition unit. Cools my office well. It doesn't leak all this time. The size of the room is 10x10 and it cools fast. It is powerful with cold air blowing until room is cooled. It's been over 2 years since I bought it, it is a great unit and still works great under pressure being I live in Florida. With my golden retriever in the room there is hair on the A.C. unit and it is easy to wipe off. It is a wall unit and easy to install.

Great window unit
I had no air conditioner at home and it was getting too hot to go without one while also using a hot computer. This was a much cheaper option than central air and I was surprised how well it worked for me. It can run with just the fan or the fan + compressor, with two settings for the fan speed and seven settings for the temperature sensor (automatically shutting off the compressor/cooling system). It cools down my ~100ft^2 room from 90f to 76f in 30-60 minutes on maximum settings. The sound, like any air conditioner I have heard, can be annoying. It really depends on the person and "quiet" is extremely subjective. It is not silent and is louder than most fans while the compressor is on. I find it to be slightly louder than my traditional electric fan on high. That is one downside of having a window unit as opposed to central air. You have to deal with the noise of the unit being right next to you. I had a tall horizontal sliding window, so I had to get extra materials to brace it properly, but it seems all window units are for vertical sliding windows anyway. I also was confused why the listed minimum window fit was so much larger than the unit width and wasn't sure if it would fit. The suggested window size minimum is the size with both side accordion panels installed on the unit. These are optional and the unit fits without it. You just need to make sure you buy other weather stripping and/or caulking if you want a good seal (recommended anyway for higher room-cooling efficiency).

It's a little Pony that works like a Draft Horse! Its COLD in here!
I have to say, I am no stranger to window units. I had 2 in my last house to help out the old central a/c and they had all the remotes and digital thermostat settings etc. etc. One was 5000btu (That I paid 99.00 for new 4 years ago) like this one but did not nearly put out the FAST cold like this little work horse does, even if you set it down to 65. Now I have only had for 2 days, so if anything changes I will be back to edit, but so far; Pros- *Small size, I think you would be hard-pressed to find a window this would not fit in unless really tiny. *Not flimsy or cheap made, the buttons are sturdy, everything about this little unit feels well built and solid, not all plastic-y. *Comes with instructions that are actually readable though like any instructions some parts are laughable and the graphics though big, could be darker, (Don't use this product with firearms?? Really, it says that! Uh, I don't think many people are planning to hunt their ac units.) still the pictures tell you all you need to know. *COLD! You want cold, you want FAST cold for say 1 small to mid sized (150sq ft) room, this is PERFECT. I would think in northern climates it would be fine for a one bedroom small/studio apt. as well. Not in the south though. Perfect for us HOT sleepers, it will freeze you and have you reaching for you favorite cuddle blanket in a hurry! I have central air where I live but I didn't want to set the whole house to 65 just to get it be 68 in one room at night only! *White noise sound, not THAT loud. Can still hear your bedroom TV without cranking up the volume to blaring levels. But if you are not one who does not sleep with a fan or who does not like white noise this might irritate you. I happen to go nuts without white noise sound! Not much louder than a box fan set on high. No rattles so far. *The side pullouts are much more well made/thicker then I've seen on more expensive units. Still my recommendation, living in a HOT HUMID BUG FILLED climate is, to put something in front or behind them, foam, thin plywood, anything, as those pull outs will actually let heat IN. *Reusable filter has easy pull out to clean. *A pro to me anyways, is without a theromstate, remotes, digital settings all that, there is much less to break or go wrong. Its a box made to cool in the most basic sense and that's what it does and it does it WELL and fast! *The power pull doesn't make lights blink or dim as its not kicking on and off, its just running cold. IMHO after the hurricanes and being without power this is a perfect size to have to hook up to a generator easily as the worst part of after the storms are the days and weeks with no power or cooling or ice. Cons* *Shipped in manufacturer box with no outer box, my unit was slightly dented and of course they could not follow on the label instructions on WHERE to put it when delivered-that has nothing to do with the seller or Amazon, just grrrrr. I'm all for saving trees but I also want my purchased product to arrive alive and not dented. *Has this HORRIBLE cardboard thing on the side to make it fit well in the box and when I went to pull off a tab fell INSIDE the unit. SO I had to bend a vent on the side and go fishing with a wire hanger and pliers to get it out-poor thinking on the packing! Remove CAREFULLY! *HEAVY for us older people, I never saw the weight but its actually heavier than the high dollar 5000btu unit I used to own, I was expecting LIGHT, it is not LIGHT. With two older people, it becomes very light, but it is not a one elderly person job. For the young and fit its 1 person lift no problem. *Did not fit in my window the way I wanted-just normal windows too. Has too much of a tilt back, will have to put a stick outside under it to brace it. But not a big issue for me as I am very creative with duck tape! *Vent direction only goes from side to side, no up and down and no multi-directional. But it moves smoothly. *I got $10.00 off but someone who purchased last month said they got $20.00 off. I would sure like to know about THAT! Its great they have deals, but I wish it was clearer where to find them as I am thinking about a second unit. Just wear a good pair of leather gloves when moving it and you won't cut your fingers on back vent-I've done that before on other units and its just a hazard of all window a/c units so the reviews of bloody hands are just people not knowing any better. I learned the hard way too once! Overall I am extremely satisfied, got $10.00 off, and its COLD. Has 2 basic temperate settings, -freeze- and -holy BLEEP its FRIGID gimme blanket now-! 2 fan speeds, No remotes. No thermostat, so you have to monitor that, it just RUNS COLD. Cord is about 6ft and has reset buttons on back, 3 prong-you will want an outlet and not an extension cord or power strip for this. Right now the highs are only in the mid 80's n very humid and its made my bedroom like ICE and humidity GONE as I was still having some humidity even with the central a/c running.. I also have a memory foam mattress which makes sleeping hot for me though I love the memory foam comfort. And at a certain age us gals just get HOT at night. And just a FYI the OPTIMAL sleeping temperature for the majority of humans is no higher than 68! This makes my room quite a bit cooler than that! I will say that after I installed I took a nap and that nap turned into 4 hours long of Ahhhhh soooo nice comfort! Just what my bedroom needed! If you are a HOT sleeper or have a room that is just STUFFY, and you LIKE COLD, and want NEW at a very affordable price, this is a great little deal. If anything changes over the course of me running it or as the days get up into the 90's 100's I will come back and edit. But right now I am thinking about a second one for my craft room. Too cold??- just make the 6 foot trip to the dial to put it down or off. Why complain it has no remote when it clearly states that it has no remote!??! We used to have to do that in the old days with TVs too! ^^ Walk over to them to change the channel. Its not that hard! Really! :) *

Don't think, just do it.
So, I wasn't sure if this was going to be good enough to cool off my room. It's not a huge A/C, it's not really even that heavy, which I was pleasantly surprised about in the end, but at first made me worry. Not gonna lie, when it first got here, when I got it and saw the size I worried. Did I just waste money on something that wasn't going to do the trick? Was I gonna have to send this back? My bedroom isn't huge, but it's not small either, and last year my electric bill was through the roof trying to keep it cool in there. This A/C works great, I actually had to get up to get a thicker blanket in the middle of the night. This Was easy to set up, comes with all the guards and hardware, and even some foam and stripping too! I had it in the window almost right away and when I left my bedroom door open last night, it started to cool off in the living and dining room too! I will wait and see what the electric bill looks like, but I can bet it's going to be better than last summer with my old A/C! I got the 4 year plan they offer with this at check-out, and I'm glad that I did spend the extra amount just in case. I think it's a good idea to have, and if something happens, which I hope it wont, they replace it. Sounds like a good deal to me!

tidy little unit that pumps out cold air
This unit is small and blows with strong force, and cools a 9' x 12' room in less than 5 minutes. Be aware, this unit turns on and off MANUALLY ONLY. This means however you set it, the fan will continue to blow as the cooling action cycles on and off to maintain your selected room temperature setting. If you are using it to cool your bedroom at night, the fan noise will continue throughout the night. Also, it only has side-to-side directional levers, so it will tend to blow straight out and down, and there's nothing you can do about that. Also, I had a difficult time with the installation, since I did it alone and I live on the 2nd floor. The instruction manual is easily the worst I have ever tried to use, for anything I have ever purchased. Poor descriptions, poor diagrams/pictures, not enough information, vague step chronology, etc. For example, the two different window foams that came in the box, which are supposed to be used around the unit (?), are not referenced in any instruction, nor are there any pictures, and one piece has an adhesive side and the other does not. What are you supposed to do with these foam pieces? Adhere it to the window sill? the unit?, and what's the other one for? Also, as expected, the accordion side panels have significant gaps on the top and bottom tracks for which there is no solution (no, the foam doesn't go there). My solution was to cut a single custom cardboard piece that form-fits over the unit face, covering both the side panels snug up to the vertical window sashes. This keeps warm air from coming in through the accordion track's spaces. Final review? After installation, it worked fine, and my ceiling fan keeps the cool air circulating. It cools the room fine.
