Greg Hildebrandt's Book of Three-Dimensional Dragons

This book has been a staple in my house for years for visiting children. It is an instant hit as the dragons rise up in great drama when the page is turned. It has never ceased to delight. This latest purchase is a welcome present for a young non-USA adopted child that includes one of the famous dragons from his birth country. This book is special, especially for boys.

I have purchased 4 of these books. For my grandchildren ages 3 to 10 they all love dragons.

Beautiful book. I took longer than expected to recieve

The book is just as massive as I remember from when I was a child. The colors and art style are gorgeous!

It's the book from my childhood! But it only has like 5-6 things in it... I remember more :( :p

I purchased this book in the late 1990's and while it is not as intricate as Reinhardt's and Sabuda's pop-ups, the large size of the pop-up dragons painted in bright acrylic paint colours in the Hilderbrandt brothers style combined with the paper engineering made in well worth the purchase! Also these pop-ups may be more durable because they are less intricate then the Sabuda, Rheinhart books. It is easier to open and close then the other books and the opening and closing of the Wyvern's jaws on the first 2 pages can fasinate any age! When I open and close the pages featuring the dragon from the St.George legend, his bat wings spread out and pull in and his chest bulges out in the middle of the 2 page spread while there there are human bones at his feet! The scene is complete with a castle and is painted like the J.R.R. Tolkien calanders that the Hilderbrandt brothers painted. It's sad that Tim Hilderbrandt died some years ago. I wonder if he worked on any pop-up books. Anyway the 5 pop-up dragons here are all great and it goes great with Dragons and Monsters by Sabuda and Reinhart! Highly recommended! I have uploaded a video to give a visual idea of the quality of the book! Sorry for the occasional glare but the book is shiny with a gloss. Hope it represents the book well enough!

This is my second copy and one of my favorite. I teach 8th grade and they love it during silent reading.

As you turn the pages of this book, the dragons literally jump off of the pages at you. Beautifully drawn and executed, in an oversize book with even more oversized dragons! The text is wordy at times, but of course you don't buy this book for the text. Hildebrandt's illustrations translate into glorious creatures with the use of deep colors and intriguing mechanics. I just wish there were more!

book was lovely. illustrations beautiful but bought it used and have good luck generally with used purchases but this time book arrived dusty, torn in a couple places and over all it was much more beat up than i expected or it was claimed to be. this could be seller error but also the book itself was very lacking in substance. the pop ups are beautiful.... but that's it. nothing much to read, not many pages. really expected more.

Very nice book. If you are a pop up collector it's a must-have. Only complaint I have it is too short. I could look at pop up dragons all day. So, 100 pages would be great.

For my grandson but I could just as easily kept it for myself. Colourful, fantastic pop up dragons. Wonderful stuff!

I'm collecting all the books on Amazon that were illustrated by Greg Hildebrandt.out of the nine or so I ordered , this was the only one that i wasn't happy with. it's a pop up book and obviously more fragile than a normal book , but most the heads were missing off the Dragons! thus slightly ruining things
