Great Jig!
After hand chiseling for decades, this product is like a dream come true. Though I'm not crazy about having to putty screw holes afterwards, this is the by far best option and necessary for hinging an existing cased opening. Slower than a multi jig template but much cheaper and easier to store. Using a router with a wide base is recommended but I used a trimmer size router making it possible to tilt and damage the jig. The included bit worked flawlessly. Make sure your hinge leaves match the one of two included jigs.

Worked great!
I bought this because I had a job installing six new doors and really didn't have time to cut all those mortises with a chisel. Turns out my client had a different mortise jig, so I didn't even open the package. Then, a few weeks later I have to install another door for another client, and I got to give this jig a try. It was great. Easy to use, and comes with all three possible corners. I used the 5/8 corner jog. The plastic inserts are a bit tough to get in and out, but once in, they don't move at all, so that is good. The router bit included in the package was really great too. Cuts fast and accurate. It was easy to set the depth and sooooo FAST to cut three mortises.I really recommend this product.

Simple to use
I had one that I borrowed from a friend. Works well. I lost the box and wanted to get a new one so I can return a complete kit. The one ordered came in a squashed box and parts inside had saw dust on them. Apparently a returned and perhaps used item but sold as new. Still usable but not exactly new as I imagined it to be.

Worked well, no real complaints
This got the job done. I used it for 12 doors. I gave it 5 stars based ont he function vs the price ratio......but I might have like to try that Ryobi jig, that looked very versatile. But I did not so cant contrast them. Very nice it comes with the bit. That worked fine and held up also. It is a bit of a hassle to put those screws in to hold it in place then you have to fill those holes when you are done. But for the price and the inculded router bit, cant complain. A couple pointers. Start your bit depth more shallow than you think you need. You can always take out more material. I also ended up cutting off the metal guides that limit how you place the jig on the door. I needed a few of my latches to go further into to the door jam to get the hinge aligment right.

Perfect Door Hinge Prep
When I purchased this, I was thinking that maybe I should get a different product that clamped the template on instead of actually screwing the template to the door. Now that I have used this, I really appreciate that there is no chance for the template to move. Each prep is perfect. the process is simple,Measure from the top of the old door to the top of each hinge. Transfer that to the new door but add 1/2 the height of the hinge to each measurement. For example, the measurement from the top of my door to the top of the highest hinge was 7 inches, The hinge is a 3 1/2 inch hinge. Half of that is 1 3/4 inches. So, add these together to determine the Center Line for the hinge location - so, 8 3/4 inches. Mark this on the door as this template lines up on the Center Line Align the center of the template (which is marked) to your mark on the door. Hold it in place as you screw down one side. Then screw down the other side.It just takes a few seconds with the router bit provided to clear the prep for the hinge. The most difficult part is setting the depth for the router bit. You can get close by stacking a hinge on the template and eyeballing it. What is nice is that while the template is screwed to the door, you can slide a hinge into make sure the prep is deep enough. If not, adjust the router bit down until the hinge is perfectly recessed.

works great to mortis door hinges

It works well for what it does, but you probably don't need it.
I had to build custom jambs for three doors, and bought this unit to deal with the hinges. The included bearing guides/templates fit the hinges that came with the doors without an issue. However, I had an interior/exterior door that also needed a custom jamb, and it had hinges bigger than what this unit could handle. As such, I had to free-hand route the hinges. Turns out, it's really easy. Just trace around the hinge, score the wood with a utility knife a little deeper than you plan to route, and then just free-hand route it. It will produce nice clean edges as the wood will chip away once the big gets near the score mark. The biggest challenge will be setting the depth of the hinge, which this unit does for you for hinges that fit. But the depth of the hinge is simple - it's whatever it is on the door itself. Just measure it for the door, and you have your measurement for the depth on the jamb.

AMAZING TOOL “MUST TRY”
AMAZING WHEN USED RIGHT!!! Mark the TOP door jab hinge before you even think about using, MEASURE 2 TIMES IF YOU HAVE TOO!!! The tool works as it should, I completed 6 doors in 5 hours, I also purchased a Diablo Bit in replacement if an error was had (always check the secure t screw on the bearing as I see people don’t check and it chews the project up) I had to show how impressed as a carpenter of 18 years was doubtful with using this, then praised me for showing him, we did go over the instruction and tried a few test cuts, this is the tool in proper use, you always cut your doors first and then paint or stain to avoid damage when finally installing (yes you install them and then remove 😃) hope you find this video useful.

Disappointed
Purchased specifically to neatly recess 89mm hinges and was supposed to be suitable for that. However, it turns out to be 92mm! The small one for 76mm hinges turns out to be 80mm. A huge disappointment.

Good quality and price, simple and it works
Great tool, good price and quality. Wish there was another way to attach template to the door instead of screwing it in. Again, just different style. I knew what I was buying. Router bit did excellent job.

Simple and easy to use.
Simple and easy to make the hinge grooves. No setup required. But unfortunately the templates are not for Australian hinges standard .I had to return but will definitely buy again if metric templates are made available for Australian customers.
