Probably not. Can you work just fine without it? Of course but DAMN, I love it! I acknowledge most people would not spend $500 and I can't blame them for thinking that. However, I appreciate well-made products that are over-engineered and aesthetically pleasing to have around me. Its made with heavy alloy (looks just like the MacBookPro) with thick black rubber that holds the computer snug. It has a built-in power supply so you can carry the original one in your bag ($100+ if you buy it separately). I have two of these docks; one for my home-office and another at my office-office. I love being able to just press a button and not worry about unplugging a bunch of a cables each time. It makes my office look presentable and clutter-free.There are some things I wish they would improve... THE PRICE! Seriously... It's $500 for a dock and if you ever upgrade your computer, you'll have to get a completely new dock. I actually hold back from even thinking about buying a new computer. I wish they had a trade-in program. If they were able to get the price down to $300, they would sell a ton of them but I'm sure that's easier said than done. I had an issue with one of the docks where it wouldn't release the computer but there is a manual release option on the back. I contacted Henge Docks and they sent a brand-new one right away. I was very happy with their customer service. I also wish the dock had at least one USB port that was accessible on the front or sides to easily plug in a memory stick. Lastly, if you use any kind of protective case for your computer, it won't work. You will have to remove your case every time. I don't like cases so it's not a big deal for me but I know some people wouldn't leave the house without a case. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Failed within 8 months. No Warranty Support *by D***L on Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2018* On 02/13/2018, I purchased a Horizontal Dock for 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display for my Sacramento client on Amazon. Three weeks ago, my client called me having problems with his dock. While troubleshooting the symptoms of his defined problems, I found the ports 7-13 were not working (Client could not use multiple monitors via the Thunderbird connectors or the Ethernet port with the Horizontal Dock). On Monday, 10/15/2018 I opened support ticket 194994 (including both the serial number and a copy of the Amazon invoice) for which I received Henge's automated reply. After patiently waiting more then the 24-48 hours for a phone call or reply, I sent an email on 10/18/2018 sarcastically asking if the 48 hours was intended to mean 48 business hours (6 days). Support replied the next day requesting screenshots which were supplied on Monday 10/22/2018. Apparently The screenshots did not meet the exact specifications of Henge Support as I was requested to perform them again. My client was out of the office and requested the Henge provide warranty repair. I past this request onto Henge support on 10/23/2018 and have not heard anything since. I tried contacting the following upper management at Henge Docks: Matthew.Vroom, Hayne.Chun, Kristin.Junk,Brandon.Parod, Travis.Weisberger, Christian.Everet and haven't even received the courtesy of a reply. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Although rather pricey, this dock works well will multiple ... *by K***H on Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2017* Although rather pricey, this dock works well will multiple displays. I use my MBP (Retina) with two external displays and the laptop display both at home and work (I now have a dock at both places). Displays at work are different from those at home. No problems, no surprises.
