Best Build Quality of any Dell keyboard ever! Smart-Card Reader works on many platforms, can't beat the price!
FIVE STAR Product! Build Quality is far better than any other Dell keyboards. Nice weight, great key travel and feel. Even if you don't need the Smart-Card reader, it's still well worth the price just to get the higher quality. Smart-Card is perfectly located, does not require more space (foot print) to ued your Smart-Card. Comes with drivers, can download newer drivers and firmware update from Dell if needed. We use this model on Windows (all versions), Aplple Mac OS X (last 5 versions) and Linux, many distributions... No problems at all. You won't regreat buying this keyboard, I highly recommend it, you will be very satisfied with the quality and especially the price.

Works
Minus 1 star for getting a keyboard error every time I boot up but computer seems to ignore it and move on with no further issues. Just like the keyboard on the Army computers and works fine. More convenient than an extra card reader on your desk.

So far it still works like a charm
Purchased March 13th, 2015 It is the exact same keyboard my job provided us to work on with our laptops. I bought it to use as an extra keyboard to take into the office and work one day a week the other four days I work from home I didn't want to have to unplug every thing every week pack it up and up pack it when I get back home. So far it still works like a charm. No problem with it reading my Key Card at all, It worked right off the bat the very first time I inserted my Id card into the card reader slot. I didn't have to download any thing or make any adjustments.

keyboard arrived defective (The right arrow --->)
I gave this a one star because an important key on the keyboard came defective (The right arrow --->) and found out after a couple of uses . I'm a Programmer and I cannot express enough how important I need this right arrow ---> when coding or for fast navigation. I love the keyboard otherwise but this serious defect is really annoying me as I have to get my had over to the mouse just to move the cursor to the location I need it, thus why I gave it a 1 star. QA failed me.....!

Leave "the right design alone;" and if it works, don't fix it!
Great product... liked first one so much I ordered another of same in just a few days.... no doubt my choice of keyboard layout and key action... I am from old school; now retired... lots of history in IT and corporate support of software and hardware for all kinds of equipment... this keyboard brings back fond memories of when "good" hardware was furnished with new PC's... I have many various types and styles of keyboards; all of them less satisfactory, in boxes for possible use "somewhere" (except one; a wireless Microsoft comfort 5000 KB)... my second choice after this Dell USB SK-3205 gem... but mostly, I do not like wireless keyboards for repairs, rebuilds, upgrades, etc. This Dell is a good find.... Amazon is always fast delivery too.

Great for DOD employees
I'm in the Army Reserves and a civilian DOD employee so I absolutely need a good keyboard with a reliable CAC (Common Access Card) reader. I have used the USB readers, but having it so accessible on the keyboard is nice if you're checking your enterprise mail at least a couple of times per week. I bought this keyboard after the one I had been using (purchased used from eBay) stopped working after a year or so. The previous keyboard was a completely different brand, so that's not a knock on this keyboard or Dell. I also like how the CAC reader is top-loading instead of on the side like some others. makes it super easy to drop right in without having to pick up the keyboard or move the mouse out of the way to insert your CAC. This is a recent purchase so I cannot speak to longevity, but Dell is an excellent company and I expect great things. The keyboard did plug and play within 10 seconds. I was able to access my enterprise email immediately without the use of the included CD w/ drivers.

The only bad thing I can say is once you use it you will never want to use any other keyboard.
My fingers have a tendency to slip off or hit two keys at once with every other keyboard. I had one of these and it got lost in a move. I spent like 100 bucks on a cordless Logitec, which I normally like their products but once I received this Dell one I threw the other away. The difference is the keys are convex and not placed directly right next to each other. This thing has some weight to it. Other manufacturers pride themselves on their keyboard as being light weight, why would I want a keyboard that slides around while I'm typing or especially gaming? The key press is quite and you can feel it push back up similar to a mechanical one. 70 bucks seems like a lot for a wired keyboard but it is top notch. I'll add too, the people who shipped it to me got it here a week earlier than their estimated arrival date even with Christmas coming up.
