The studs are not installed and have to be screwed in so technically you don't need to use them. I would definitely recommend using them though as it makes it very sturdy. **Q: Does it fit a 2001 convertible ?** A: Yes. My year vette and body style **Q: Can this spoiler be installed with double sided tape instead bolting on?** A: Yes you can install it with double sided tape, the studs are not installed on it, you have to screw them in, so if you want it without you can.
