Outstanding Universal Cell Phone Adapter
I bought this universal cell phone adapter so I can mount my iphone XR onto my SVBONY SV135 zoom eye piece. I was impressed with the quality of this product. It was solid with a little bit of weight to it, but light enough where it did not impact the performance of using my telescope, which is a Dianfan 90800 on a altazimuth mount. It is made of good quality materials and functions beautifully. This adapter was a perfect match for my cell phone and eye piece as the fit was perfect and did not interfere with the zoom function. The grip is solid and I had no concerns of it breaking free from the eye piece. I was able to get various pictures from different magnifications with ease and they came out beautifully. With its great value and performance, I feel you cannot go wrong with this adapter.

Great Value for the money!! Is it perfect? No. Is it worth the purchase? YES
See attached un-retouched photo of the moon taken 8/9/2019...It was AWESOME, my son was so stoked not just seeing the moon through our Amazon purchased telescope (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000MLL6QY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) but being to capture it using this iPhone mount was the icing on top. Is it perfect? No. Is it worth it? YES Pros: - Price/Value - Quality build, feels very solid - heavy metal - Fits both an iPhone SE and iPhone XR (though better with a smaller phone - the XR it had to be rotated at an angle Cons: - As someone explained earlier because of the short travel of the screws (to tighten) it does take a while to open/secure the eyepiece and phone mount screws. That's probably the more painful part. (-1 star) - Its a bit heavy since its metal and not plastic so not sure if its really a con or pro. You want quality but can weigh down the eyepiece so need to be very careful when securing.

Solid.
This thing worked pretty well. Just understand that it takes time to get the camera lined up with the optics of your telescope. Also if your optics are dirty (like mine is) the dust/dirt can make it difficult to focus on the target object. But if you can get past that the images that you can capture with your phone are fun. Iโve included a video I made last night of our moon.

Does what it does. They all seem to be about the same, but at least this is made of aluminum.
Using these things with a scope or bins is a hassle. My complaint isn't about this specific version. All with this open, configurable design will have similar issues. Every time we want to setup the phone to take photos, we have to re-align everything. There's no "set it once" and it is a quick connect every time after that. There are many differences with each mount attempt. The phone placement, the scope placement, the angle it is connected to an eye piece, the alignment between the camera and scope. To get the alignment for the camera and scope setup quickly, mount everything quickly and point at a bright light, so as the phone alignment is zoomed in, it will be obvious with a big out-of-focus light on the screen. Tighten the screws and see how off vertical/horizontal the setup is, then readjust. I found that the horizontal alignment is the hardest to get correct, since shifting to the left or right loosens the entire mount. It is a pain. I'm sure there are other optimizations, like adding markings to the phone case to know how deep the holder should be in the preferred configuration. At least then, there's be 1 known-good setting. Don't think I'd mark on the scope for where vertical alignment should be. The 3 screws are designed to prevent too much hand tightening. This is good and bad. Sometimes it is very frustrating, but I haven't seen any marks on the phone or scopes tested. OTOH, what did I want for $10? It has screws to hold things. There's no spring loaded holder, which is good. It is make with mostly metal, so it should last longer that ABS plastic and it uses a well-known design. An improvement would be to have quick lock settings, like a camera tripod mount has for the scope and phone mounts, to prevent re-adjustments every time the contraption has to be setup with the same phone and scope. Having just the vertical alignment on a screw would really make for a nicer tool.

I'm an overnight astrophotographer sensation
There really is no other option so I bought this plus it was the cheapest at $10. It takes time to set it up and find the best alignment. The weight of the phone will want to shift alignment so be careful that you tighten knobs correctly so the phone doesn't fall off and not too tight that you crush your eyepiece. Also, make sure the rubber that grips the phone is not slipping out as it can slide out.

Flawed - not happy with it
1. While setting it up on a carpeted floor, I left my iPhone XR in the adapter that was on the right eyepiece of a binocular set up on a camera tripod for all of 2 minutes. The phone crashed to the floor. Also came down with it the rubber grip that is supposed to clamp on the phone from both sides. Why is the rubber grip not glued onto the frame? Luckily, since I was not working on a hard surface, the phone survived. 2. Design flaw - the phone holder part of this contraption should be up and away from the surface by a good 0.5 - 0.75 inch to allow for the phone camera to rest on the eye relief that most binoculars and eyepieces have. It is not - and a struggle ensues. 3. Hard to position the lens to align with the eyepiece - forget about an easy clamp you might have been thinking of when buying it. On the positive side, it is cheap. Not much else to add to it - oh, and the construction seems OK as well. Barring the shortcomings above, which are enough to shake your confidence in trying to use it in a dark place, and the potential of a costly repair on your phone screen, plus the struggle that you may undergo to use it, it is alright. I am constantly in need of small objects that I can use to hone my aiming skills in my basement, and this looks like a very good candidate. I wonder if a .177 pellet at 1300 fps from a distance of 40 feet would have a lasting impact on it or not.

Very handy.
I have used this on and off, can be a little challenging lining up to the camera but once it's done it works great. Does what it's suppose to. Your picture quality will depend on lenses you use and phone camera protectors. Found best results are with phone protectors.

Does the job but not fully metal as claimed
I was able to get good photos using both a low cost 20X50 spotting scope as well as a small telescope. A couple of gripes. The description states "Special Feature durable, fully metal" Not true, the phone clamp is plastic. As you tighten clamp bends a bit. The rubber pads on the clamp are just slipped on (not glued) which means they can slip off. If you are taking photos where the phone is facing downward (moon photos etc.), the pads and phone can fall out of the clamp. I will probably glue the pads on on mine. So, if one keeps these issues in mind, the adapter works and can help generate some unique photos.

Works well enough
It may take the users some time to fiddle and get it to work with some smartphones depending on their button placement. Otherwise it is sturdy.

Strong, well made, difficult to use
I was very impressed with the build quality but I found I very difficult to accurately align the phone camera and the telescope eye piece. The vertical alignment is via a slide, but the horizontal alignment is done by pivoting the phone around a choice of two fixed pivot points. At the correct alignment point, the phone holder clamp pressed on the down volume button, which when the phone is in photo mode, switches the camera to video. I could not find any position with the lenses aligned that the would not switch automatically to video. Maybe another phone have better success. My dual lenses phone with the camera bump high on the right side is very difficult to setup. Nice adaptor, just not usable with my phone with out modifications. Definitely not universal.
