Brilliant Storage Device
For a little under a year I have used this piece for just my main computer as extra storage that I had been dying for. It has been pretty much fantastic. You get around 980 total storage to use. Its a pretty solid external drive, feels sturdy but is very small. Its definitely had an impact on my games, mainly when booting them up. Downloads speeds are significantly quicker as well which has been greatly helpful when needing things downloaded asap. Only just recently did I use this drive with another computer/laptop when I was going to Glasgow for 3 nights and when I had some work to do. It had a bitlock on it which makes me feel better if anyone ever somehow got this drive and tried using it. It worked great, connected straight away and worked no different to how it does on my computer at home. Its brilliant I think my main love for this drive is the price of this. Much cheaper than most others and feels like it works just as good as them too. Definitely recommend.

Great little external ssd for running a portable Linux compute node.
Great external ssd device, exactly what I need. I have a monster and ryzen 9 with twin rtx 5080s. The machine (aka beast) came with windows 11 and I didn’t realize at the time this was a bad idea. The issue is that the power requirements for the beast are a little too much for a domestic power supply. Windows has trouble cold booting and when I login the gpus are initialised requiring yet more power making the system unstable. Disabling the gpus doesn’t solve the problem. So at this point I needed an external SSD where I could install Linux and boot it as primary when it’s is plugged in. For about £40 The netac 250gb ssd is just the right size for a couple of Linux partitions, some swap and a reasonable scratch data partition without needing a much more expensive larger drive. Recommended for overriding windows in a safe controlled manner and building a compute node.

Slim, lightweight and affordable - updated review
This SSD seems to offer good value, with a decent amount of storage for around 70% of the prices for more established brands. For laptop users the slim profile and lightweight could be real advantages. *** Update following order of third unit - March 2025 Other updates noted with [+] in the text. The comments following the order of the previous two units still apply, though now I have more experience and information. One thing to note is that this unit does not have SMART [++] - a system for monitoring disk and SSD drive performance - and to mitigate in the case of imminent failure. Whether SMART is worth having I don't know - but this SSD does not have it. ++ [Self Monitoring and Reporting Technology.] The previous units were used with Apple laptops and were compatible with Time Machine. This unit is the same size as the earlier two, but the machine to back up is bigger. When trying to initialise the SSD for use with Time Machine a message came up that it should really be twice as big as the current storage to conform to recommendations. I had little alternative but to try it anyway, and so far it seems to have backed up most of the main desktop machine with about 100 Gbytes to spare. I can work round this issue if it does turn out to present problems by buying yet another larger drive of SSD for use with TM, and repurposing this one for other uses. If I had anticipated this it might have been better and slightly more economical to buy the 2Gbyte version or consider a larger storage device from another brand. Whether SMART would be advisable for devices like this I can't say right now, but I will consider that if I decide we need yet another device. Part of the reason for the integration of these devices is that the machine we use most does have TM installed, but sometimes runs and starts up very slowly. That could be because some TM snapshots are not being backed off to external storage, so there might be a performance benefit even if there are really no significant benefits in terms of data protection and security. Only time will tell whether this will be a real benefit, though if it defers the need to purchase another desktop machine for a year or more it will have been worthwhile. *** End of March 2025 update section I reformatted this for use with Apple MacOS and then reformatted it again for use with Time Machine. It is not the only backup device I use, and indeed I would hesitate to use this as the sole backup storage. [+] I can confirm that using one of the earlier units we did successfully recover all or most of the data from one of the laptops using TM - though it took a long while. Time wasn't a major issue though - we just needed to get that done. Now I am considering another one of these to provide storage during system maintenance operations, involving consolidating existing folders and clearing enough space off desktop and laptop machines to improve their performance and make updating easier. Another possible use is for VST musical instrument libraries, which often work well enough on external storage SSDs. Having more space available may permit easier and better organisation of available libraries. Until recently I used to rely on smaller SSDs [256Gbytes] installed in fairly cheap external enclosures, and they have proved to be fairly reliable. However using several different SSDs tends to require more USB connections, and that lead to the use of one or more external USB hubs, which can become unwieldy. A 1 Tbyte SSD is often large enough to do most of what is needed, and this unit will only require a single USB port. One thing to note is that from the specification it may not be up with the fastest data transfer rates possible with some other branded SSDs. I haven't checked the data rates possible as my interests are in creating duplicate copies of data files which can be done slowly enough, and I do use possibly faster and more certain reliable branded devices for primary backups - though even those may fail. So check whether the data rates from the specs are compatible with the intended application, and if they are, then consider reliability issues. So far the unit I bought has coped well with the applications and file duplications required. This is the basis for the award of 4 stars in the review.. I am hoping the device won't fail in the near future - but I have taken other precautions to minimise the risks in case it does. If it does fulfil its basic roles, and make system maintenance and restructuring easier, it will justify its cost, possibly allowing a delay in purchasing new hardware or software, though in the longer term I expect that new hardware and software systems will become necessary, but this might provide a useful stopgap solution to keep costs down.

The disk was corrupted before I managed to even copy any files onto it. I would not recommend this product. I've purchased a slightly more expensive alternative from a reputable brand instead. It's working great :)

No requiere instalación, solo conectar y usar. La carcasa se siente resistente y de buena calidad, no pesa nada y funciona perfectamente en mi PC y TV. ¡Una excelente relación calidad-precio, lo recomiendo totalmente!

About 300MB/s read and write speeds. Which is probably my usb connection's bottleneck. Does not heat up quickly, which is good for longevity of the drive. This is an SSD, not a 'flash' drive so it should keep working even after writing a lot of data to it. Very happy with the 2TB version!
