Neiko High Visibility Safety Vest ANSI Class 2, No Pocket, Neon Yellow, Large (L)

This is a great vest for the price. I bought this vest for use as a bicycle commuter, and it vastly increases my visibility in both nighttime and daytime. I used it daily for the last 4.5 months. Vests are extremely versatile since they can be used over any clothing in both warm and cold weather. Durability: The zipper is pretty tough and has given me no problems. The material has frayed a bit around the neck and chest area where the velcro on my jacket catches it, but it doesn't seem to be causing any major problems. The reflective strips have stayed on and shown no signs of peeling off. Overall, it is pretty well made. Fit: I usually wear a medium for my shirts and jackets, and am closer to a large size than to a small. I was wearing this in the winter over both a warm mid layer wool shirt and a rain/wind outer jacket. The large fit perfectly over them; fitted but not tight. I have also worn it on warm days over just a t-shirt and it is a tad loose but still fits fine. Visibility: The bright yellow makes me much more visible in the daytime and other low-light situations. Meanwhile, the reflective strips work wonders at night and any time that vehicles have their lights on. My wife, who rides with me, has testified to how bright it is. I have also noticed fewer vehicles seeming to not notice me on the road. I highly recommend that anyone who commutes on a bike get a vest or jacket with a large amount of both bright material and reflective material. The bright color helps in all situations, including when cars don't have their lights aimed at you, while the reflective stips greatly increase your visibility when they do. Don't rely on only active lights since large bright objects are much more attention grabbing and easier to position. Use both bright clothing and active lights. Conclusion: This is a cheap and effective vest that really makes you stand out in traffic. I bought this for walking the dog in the evenings and it does its job. The yellow is bright and noticeable and the reflective tape works great when car headlights hit it. I bought mine to fit over both my husband's and my jacket so we can rotate depending on who is walking the dog or if both of us go out together one of us has it on to protect all of us. We walk in the rain frequently as we live in Seattle and while it is not water resistant, it still dries quickly and reflects even when wet. I like the zipper on the vest and have had no problems with it. I think if I were to purchase again I would get one with pockets if that were an option. I can still easily access my coat pockets with the vest on so it is not a major deal, I just like extra pockets! Overall, I just feel safer walking at dusk and night with this on and I appreciate others who also wear reflective gear when they are the pedestrians and I am the driver. Update Feb 15, 2020: Almost 3 year update. This vest is going strong! The color is still bright despite having the neighbor's dog jump all over me with muddy paws. The reflective strips work fantastically and haven't faded or cracked at all. The zipper has worked 100% of the time with no hangups ever. I wear this vest twice a day in all weather. I have since changed my mind- it doesn't need pockets. The neighbors all recognize me from my vest and comment how much they love it. I think this is one of the best things I've purchased for our twice daily walks. The other is a glowing collar for the dog.

Highly visible, even on foggy, early morning runs. I am a woman, 5-ft 8-inches, 135 pounds and I generally wear a small in unisex/men's T-shirts. After reading that this is sized small, I ordered the large. It's plenty big enough to fit over my heavy winter jacket (for those mornings that my "run" is more of a walk), though that does mean it's baggy with only a T-shirt (a few sew-on snaps solved that problem). It really does almost glow in the daylight and our 4 watt nightlight is enough to bring out the reflective tape from 10-12 feet away! It washed well, though on the first wash it did shed tiny bits of neon green onto my husband's black pants (it's had only the one wash-- no idea if it'll keep doing that, though it would surprise me). Not super heavy -duty but still well made and I expect it to last for a long time. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to be seen. Update: After having this vest a little over a month and wearing it 45 minutes every day, the stitching has started to come out of one of the reflector tape strips. I checked all the other stitching and it looks fine, so I may have caught it on something--like one of my dogs' nails when they're bad and jump up. : )

Everyone that is one the streets and not in a car -- walkers, runners, bikers, etc -- should wear one of these. I've had people stop me on the street while I was walking to thank me for wearing this so they can see me. I even wear it during the day now and still get comments. Buy much larger than you think as it seems to run a bit small and you want plenty of room for coats underneath.

Runs a little small but good quality

I really enjoy this vest and it has helped me in a variety of ways. Additionally, I get a lot of positive comments from folks walking up to tell me how smart I am to wear it. In terms of benefits, I ride my motorcycle to work at 5:30 each morning through an area surrounded by trees and crossing bridges over a lake. I do not have a windshield on the bike and at that time of the morning, it is semi dark and a lot of bugs come at my headlight and hit me. Those bugs splat on my face shield but just hit and bounce off the vest. I get to my destination and have to clean my face shield, but my vest and shirt are clean. This vest saves a lot of shirts in that regard. Also, I often wear polo or golf styled shirts when I go work. When I get up to driving speed, some of my collars really begin to flap in the wind. Instead of listening to that noise or risking damage to the shirt, I simply tuck the collar under this vest. Problem solved. Third solution is that this vest does serve as a windbreaker to the portions of your body that it covers. At the moment is is hot as well hell but a few mornings last month were downright chilly and this vest sure helped. Finally, the fourth benefit?----it is bright neon yellow with reflectors---duh. I purchased this zipper version as I knew I would be using it on my motorcycle and did not want the wind pulling it open. The zipper seems strong and never slips down in the wind. I purchased one size larger than I normally wear just so I can put it on over my jackets. In terms of sizing, the one size largers fits great, without a jacket or with a light jacket. However, if you are planning on wearing it over a heavier coat, you might want to go two sizes larger. The vest itself is very light and foldable and I usually forget I have it on. For the price and benefits this vest offers, it is a great value and I highly recommend.

I bought this to put in my car safety kit in case I need to do a roadside repair. I'm tall and skinny but I got an XXL so that it would fit over my winter coat and for others in my family. It's a bit wide for me, but for an average size person, the XXL is your safest bet. I later bought an XL in orange which isn't as loose. In terms of quality, it looks well stitched and fits well. The yellow mesh and reflective stripes are much brighter in person, which I liked the most.
