Do i need to do something special to have external power to this board to the 5v pin and if i want to plug in a usb at the same time?

The board will use the 5VB power from the USB, so if you have the USB plugged in, you don't need to also provide separate 5V power.

Do I have enough room on this board to put a simple 3 image animation .gif (thumb nail size) with out the need to add a micro SD card?

There is plenty of room for that.

does this have keyboard and mouse HID support like the 3.6?

Currently, USB serial is the only supported USB device on Teensy 4.0. USB host is fully supported on Teensy 4.0 by the USBHost_t36 library, including keyboards and mice. PJRC is planning to add most of the USB device modes for Teensy 4.0 in the upcoming 1.49 software release. USB device mode optimizations are currently in beta testing, so progress is being made.

which pin set (spacing) do I need with this board?
