Sharpens quickly and cleanly. More expensive than some other sharpener, but worth it. Most highly recommended! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This thing is pretty big! *by K***. on 30 December 2023* It arrives, it was plug and play, and it does sharpen pencils very quickly. It has a lot more powerful motor than my older pencil sharpener: the screw cutter spins a lot faster and the pencil is sharp within a second or two. The sharpener itself is also a lot bigger: I was hoping to put this discretely on my desk, but there is nothing discrete about a giant pencil sharpener that dwarfs most other things on my desk. Not on my desk then. For $50 this is still a pretty basic pencil sharpener: some of the similarly-priced ones will stop automatically when the pencil reaches certain sharpness, but this one doesn't and will eat your pencil if you don't pay attention. Another thing is what usually happens to electric pencil sharpeners is that they rely on multiple switches and switch-activated pressure plates to function: those switches tend to break (physically disintegrate) long before the actual cutters wear out. Time will tell if this happens to this unit as well, but it has even more switches and pressure plates than my old sharpener. I get it, most of these are safeties, and replacing a nonfunctioning unit is a lot cheaper than the lawsuit after a unit hurts someone.
