Works GREAT, Long Lasting, Good Price
Works GREAT! There is a rubber ring around the bottom for the base. I read a review about the candle "staining" when it melted. If you keep the candle upright, this should not be a problem. I checked price only online and this seems to be similar, if not better, than others. Other's mentioned it was cheaper at HD, yet online it's the exact same. Pro's: 1. WORKS, not being constantly attacked by mosquitos, especially since I use it at dusk when they are out in force 2. Long lasting 3. 3 wicks to create an even burn plus adds to repelling factor 4. Price good compared to size and cost of other brands 5. Looks nice - rustic Con's: 1. Haven't found any

Great product, at a really good price
Great product, at a really good price. We have ordered this same candle from Amazon and this same buyer several times in the past-and the results are identical every time: perfection! Here in Dallas, I think we are at the eye of the Mosquito Hurricane, and have been forced in the past not to even use our great covered (but not enclosed) tropical-themed Patio because of the constant attack of the dreaded mosquitoes. These candles work!! We do use lots of them I will admit (often 4 at a time, spread around the area) because the Patio is fairly large. But that is a relatively small price to pay for being able to comfortably use the area!! And I am happy to say we now use the area all the time. I know there are other solutions, but because of our small pets I am not comfortable going those routes. These work perfectly.

They work for me and I live way out in the country side
I live way out in the Blue Ridge Mountains with lots of bugs. I use two candles at a time on my porch and they do a good job. They keep away bees, wasps, gnats and horse flys during the day and mosquitoes at night. However, they do seem to attract a common harmless beetle which get burned by the flame and become embedded in the wax. I've found that all citronella candles do this so they are not perfect keep all bugs away sort of product. In terms of the product rating the longevity of these candles is really good. They burn for about 40 hours which is more than the average bug candle. So they get five stars for that. I don't know what value rating the "scent" because all citronella candles smell like, citronella. So I gave the scent the same rating as the overall rating.

Works Very Well
Lasts a long time, I’ve had it burning every night for about 6 hours since I got it (over a week ago) and it’s about a fourth gone. The scent is light and non offensive to me, but bugs seem to hate it. I live by a stream and at night it gets quite buggy. You can see the barrier of where the scent keeps them away at dusk especially and it’s about 3 feet in every direction. I am going to purchase more to increase the coverage, but definitely worth it. We have a lot of bugs, but if you are in an area with regular nightly fliers I believe the coverage would be greater.

Mosquitos beware!
My Cutter outdoor candle arrived earlier than expected and in perfect condition. My wife and I bought it on a friend's recommendation and because more often than not, we have a ton of mosquitos flying around the outdoor patio attached to our garden-level apartment in the greater Boston area. We do a lot of grilling, drinking and relaxing there, especially since the pandemic started. Sometimes, we feel like the only place in and around the city with a mosquito problem. But soon enough, after lighting the candle, they were completely gone. We can now continue to grill, drink and relax, as the warm weather extends into November. We should've bought this candle when we moved in! Thanks so much.

Disappointing.
It seemed like a good deal at the time. More attractive than the "bucket" version, slightly bigger I think, and at the time I jumped on it because it was cheaper. The pros kind of ended there... First of all, the label. Of course I'd want to take that off before lighting it and getting it hot. But instead of using any sort of friendly adhesive, the label ripped off leaving adhesive and paper and generally looking terrible. Taking a label off of something like this should not be a project, so I just left it. I had bugs to repel. 3 wicks. Ok. That might result in a better burn in this wider tapered fatter-at-the-bottom container, but it's a pain to light. Now for the best part. Those pretty decorative holes that make this that much more attractive? Yeah, if you have any kind of breeze at all, this thing is blowing out. As for the citronella - works great. Love the smell and it works well (if you can keep it burning). The mosquitoes around my place are pretty rabid right now and will bite me through a PUDDLE of 99% deet spray. Seriously. I've seen it happen. Any potential advantage is a plus. I've also noticed this works well on flies. With the summer heat, I've been cooking on an induction cooktop outdoors, especially for long simmers cooking down tomato sauce for canning. The flies swarm in, but a citronella candle makes an immediate noticeable difference, and this one has done the job (when it stays lit). As the candle burns down some, away from the holes around the side, it will probably stay lit better. I think this thing actually starts with sort of a handicap because the short wicks were put out by the wax. The first time I burned it, I had to put it out and "roll" the wax around to stick to the sides so there would be enough wick sticking out to stay burning. I'm a big fan of citronella (candles and plants!) and the Cutter candles are plenty strong to do the job. But this is one of those products where you have to ask yourself, "Did any of their R&D people actually try to USE this? Outside, where there are insects? And wind?" This item looks nice, and I'll use it until it's gone. But unless something obviously changes, I'll go back to the "bucket" candle - which, I might add, has the handy lid to put it out. The instructions on this candle actually tell you NOT to blow it out and to use a snuffer (like you can keep it burning...). Some sort of tapered "cap" would be awesome, even if it was just something ugly and plastic that didn't match the metal candle. This is pretty to look at, but the "bucket" version is way better functionally.
