Quiet Power!
I recently had to replace my old garbage disposal and decided to go with the Moen GX50C Disposer from their Prep Series. And let me tell you, it's been an eye-opener. My previous disposal was so loud, it felt like it could wake up the entire neighborhood every time I used it. It was one of those things you don't realize how bad it is until you experience something better. And this Moen disposal? It's a world of difference. It's not completely silent – I don't think any disposal can be – but it's as close as you can get to a quiet dream. It operates with a mild hum that's surprisingly soothing compared to the racket I was used to. And it doesn't just sound better; it works great too. It pulverizes food waste like a champ, leaving nothing but oblivion in its wake. Installation was pretty straightforward, and it comes with a power cord included, which is always a plus. The sound reduction technology Moen has used in this model really stands out. It's a relief not having to brace myself for a wall of noise every time I need to dispose of food scraps. In short, I absolutely love this disposer. If you're in the market for a new garbage disposal and noise level is a concern for you, I'd highly recommend the Moen GX50C. It's efficient, relatively quiet, and a significant upgrade from the older, louder models.

Easy to install, quieter than Badger
My InSinkErator Badger died. It was loud, and ugly. I went on Amazon and this garbage disposal was highly rated, reasonably priced, and, I know it just lives under the sink, but it has a very elegant design. I have not done any big handyman jobs in my house, and I was going to call one to install this, but looking at the instruction manual, thought I might be able to swing it. I gathered my tools and plumber’s putty, and the manual was clear and easy to understand, and I installed it in about 90 minutes, which included some trial-and-error. I believe I could have reused the mounting bracket from the Badger, but I wanted a shiny new Moen sink flange. Reusing the existing bracket would have saved a lot of time on the install. I was skeptical on if it would be quieter, because my last one was 1/3 hp and loud, and this is 1/2 hp. It really is quieter! I am very happy with my purchase and if I know someone who is replacing or wanting to install a garbage disposal, I will suggest they go with a Moen. As you can see, I have a straight pipe to connect to the drain, and the Moen comes with an elbow pipe. I have seen a lot of questions on this. I removed the length of straight pipe, unscrewed the connector all the way off, pulled off the gasket that seals the connector, then pulled the old disposal gasket and metal bracket, and replaced them with the ones that came on the elbow pipe in the kit. I replaced the connector gasket, then, I was able to reuse the pipe. Just make sure you put everything back on in the same order as when they came off. It sounds complicated, but when you pull the pipe off, you will see it’s not.

Best design at the best price. Look no further.
These are fantastic disposals. Nylon composite chamber literally cannot rust/corrode, so you'll never open up your sink cabinet to find water spewing everywhere like most of the other brands. It's just common sense - there should be no other design now that this is available. Anyway... It's still affordable and 1/2 HP is plenty if you're not shoving chicken bones down this thing. And frankly, if you're trying to, stop doing that and USE THE TRASH CAN ;-) The rubber gasket removes easily for cleaning, and the nylon chamber is sloped to the top, so it's super easy to clean the inside of the disposal quickly with a bottle brush. It's not perfectly silent, but on my cast iron/enameled sink there is no vibration. The only real noise comes out of the drain, and it's not terribly loud, just the sound of the water and blade spinning. It can be blocked by aiming the water stream strategically. I also have a rubber coupler on the drain pipe between the disposal and the vertical drain, which prevents any vibration from reaching the plumbing or the floor. I do think this makes a noticeable difference. Also, if you have a thin stainless steel sink, you're going to have some motor vibration hum which can be resolved by adding some sound deadening mat (like used in cars) to the bottom of the sink. Or, you can pay 2-3 times as much for a "quiet" disposal that may or may not have the corrosion-proof grind chamber. Note: Stainless steel grind chamber is good, but NOT corrosion-proof.

Seems to be well built, works fine
Replaced a Badger 5 unit that started leaking from the bottom. I had 2 of those Badger 5 units in the last 6 years. BOTH started leaking shortly after the 2 years warranty expired. Upon disassembly of the 2nd unit, I found that the bottom of the wet chamber/top of the motor is made out of regular stamped steel. Seems to be "calibrated" to last just enough for the warranty. I extended the life of that 2nd Badger 5 by sanding that piece to bare metal (had a lot of rust pin holes) and coating it with JB Weld. The fix lasted almost 2 years. Now I purchased this Moen unit (done with Badger 5), and I'm happy to report that the bottom of the wet chamber is not metal but sturdy plastic, so at least it shouldn't rust. Unit is a little bit quieter and cheaper than the Badger 5, although I had to modify the drain pipes a little. The one thing I don't like about this Moen unit is the rubber piece that goes inside the drain (they call it splash guard). Looks cheaply made comparing to the old one on the Badger 5, and somehow restricts the flow of water. Might end up swapping it out. We'll see how this unit holds up. Update: I could not stand the splash guard that came with this thing anymore. Got tired of water pooling or having to use my hands to push the crap down the hole for this disposer to work. Swapped with an Insinkerator style guard (see attached picture) , and it's working the way it should now. But noise levels went up. Oh well....cannot have everything.

Me siento absolutamente descontenta.

Silencioso que maravilla lo unico negativo es que es desechable una vez que cumpla su ciclo de vida útil. Esperemos dure algunos años. Ojo no lo usen para triturar vidrio. Jajaja

A bit loud compared to my previous InSinkErator but the price was superb and included the cord. Very solid and works well.

عند فتح المنتج للتركيب هناك رائحة في الصندوق و ايضا خدوش على القطعة و كيس البراغي مفتوح و هذا يدل على ان المنتج ليس جديد بس تم استعماله من قبل و استرجاعه
