Meta Portal Plus - Smart Video Calling 14 Inch Touch Screen with Stereo Speakers

Feels well made, looks great, picture excellent as is the camera and outstanding sound. Considering the web browser and various tv apps, it’s good value for 299. Only gripes are some limitations in the apps 1 eg Spotify you can’t search like on the mobile app (although it does play playlists), the integration isn’t always smooth if calling an app from a web page and it’s a shame you can’t access the camera from the browser….but for zoom/teams/WhatsApp vid calls its outstanding. There are some privacy issues surrounding Facebook I know, although personally if they want to snoop they will. I already have a house piled full of ‘listening’ Amazon and apple devices anyway. If they want to watch me walking around tackle out that’s up to them - there’s far better content on porn sites I assure you!!! Bottom line with this is it’s a quality, functional and good looking device that’s easy to use and makes video calling much more immersive. All for 299. Worth considering I’d say…

This was a family christmas gift for my son and his family. They are in the UK and I am in the USA .... works wonderfully well ... HD quality ... sound is excellent .... very, very happy with this

Alexa function is extremely limited. You have to shout in order to get Alexa to respond, and you can't make any video calls, or use amazon music, or check the status of any amazon orders..very misleading.....AVOID!

Great price for a quality bit of kit. Does everything I need it to do shame Meta have pulled out of this space.

The hardware on offer is incredible. Screen is beautiful, design sleek and appealing and the speakers excellent, it makes my Google hub max look and sound like a toy. As good as the hardware is the software just isn't intuitive access feels like a tablet on a stand rather than a voice assistant. For example, ask for apple pie recipes and you get read an apple pakora recipe with no option to choose the one you want. Similarly ask to see a picture of a dinosaur and you are responded with there is no such picture in your library. I also found the picture selection process annoying too, the default option is to show everything in the folder, rather than selecting the items you want to be displayed, I do however accept that some people will prefer that option. As a media consumption device ie listen to music view pictures or make calls it is excellent. What's app call quality was incredible when I tried it. Overall, if the Google devices had this hardware with their software it would be a perfect device. As it was I sent mine back because its functionality was too limited for my needs.
