I've used various seed-starter blends, from those at Lowe's and online to my own compost, and this is by far the best. The mix is soft, with very few bits of bark, and no excess of Perlite to block root growth. My germination rate has been fantastic. And when I began bottom watering sprouts, the soil took up the water beautifully.

There was too many large pieces of sticks/wood that the seedlings had a hard time breaking through. Other than that there was very good germination

This is a well known product that I use in my organic growing. It was delivered overnight at via Prime which was important for my needs. It contains all the right nutrients and is a good value comparatively speaking. Organic items will always be more but are well worth that bit extra. It's 8 quarts and does well for small gardening which is what I need. They do offer bigger bags but I've a lack of space for storing items. The dirt/soil contents are ideal for seeds and it's so much easier to use than mixing up my own potting mix.

At first this product is great, but after a while... When I first got this, I started planting seeds right away. At first they grew fine, and seemed health, but after a while I noticed that the ends of the leaves would turn yellow and become dry. I thought maybe I wasn't watering them enough. So I started watering them more And nothing Improved. After they seemed like they outgrew the 2 inch pots I decided that I would transfer them. I drenched the soil for easier transfer and wanted a while. After all the water was gone I flipped the pot upside down. The top half was fine, but the bottom half was bone dry. I did this with a few other plants and they were all the same. Also, not only does the water seem to just magically disappear, but the soil compacts itself almost all the time. Everything I would water it, it would seem like the soil level would decrease in the pot. I had to buy a bag a perlite and basically dump the whole bag into this mix so that it would not compact itself. So I only recommend getting this if you are also willing to buy vermiculite and/or perlite.

My kale and chard at 4wks. This seeding starting mix is amazing! Soil was nice and moist, I didn't even need to water the soil before planting my seeds. The bag has a zip lock so it's easy store. First time gardener btw! So happy with my purchase!

The seller was great but the product itself is not what I was hoping for. Good ingredients/composition but very water repellant, difficult to work with and I did not enjoy the overly large chunks of wood/debris I had to sift out. I wouldn’t purchase again.
