Great external HDD
This has been a great drive for me. The capacity is huge compared to my needs. It is quick enough to watch videos without any lag. My only disappointment is that it is HDD and not SSD. But I knew that when I purchased it. The size, speed, and price are what I was looking for. I am satisfied.

Not worth the headache
I purchased this hard drive back in May of 2026 to store games and gaming clips. Unfortnately the drive has ran into some issues and is now completely useless. I attempted to reformat the drive which did not work at the expense on content. I went to the Seagate website for assistance to only be told that the extended warrenty expired in 2023 after being purchased in 2022. I'm stuck having to purchased another hard drive with having this one barely 3 months with system failures. I thought this would be better than the 8TB Western Digital hard drive I replaced for this Seagate hard drive.

A Reliable Gem: My Honest Take on the FireCuda 16TB
So, let's talk about the FireCuda 16TB. It's been my go-to for a while now, and I gotta say, it's been a game-changer. One thing that caught my eye right off the bat is the connectivity options. With a front USB 3.2 Gen 1 USB and USB-C, it's got everything I need to transfer data or hook up other devices. Yeah, I know, the main connector is USB 3.0, but honestly, it's not a big deal. I mean, who's really pushing spinning HDDs to their limit anyway? Not me. And let's talk about durability. These spinning drives may not be as flashy as SSDs, but man, do they last. If you're in it for the long haul, this is your guy. Perfect for backups and long-term storage without breaking a sweat. Now, I've seen some folks complain about the USB specs, but honestly, they're missing the point. This thing does exactly what it says on the tin, and I've never had any issues with it. Style-wise, it's sleek as heck. Fits right in with my setup, and it's got that modern vibe going for it. Plus, the price? Don't even get me started. Yeah, it might've been steep a couple of years ago at $559.99, but guess what? In 2024, it's still holding its own. Trust me, this thing's worth every penny. In a nutshell, the FireCuda 16TB is the real deal. Reliable, versatile, and stylish to boot. Whether you're using it for work or play, it's got you covered. So yeah, if you're in the market for a storage solution that's built to last, look no further. The FireCuda has got your back.

Storage is fine, lighting control app has a few compatibility issues
This drive works as intended in terms of storage and the USB ports. The main issue I ran into is that the provided app for the lighting control does not work with all USB controllers (notably those using the Etron USB 3.0 controller chips). On my computer when I installed the app, it would see the drive but did not have any options for lighting control. I then tried it on my laptop and it worked, so I tried with the drive connected to another (non-USB 3) port on my PC and suddenly the lighting options appeared. Move the drive back to the USB 3 port and they disappear again. Came to the conclusion it had to be the ports, but all USB 3.0 ports had the same issue on my PC. Then I tried it on an old laptop at work that has the same Etron USB 3.0 controller as my home PC's motherboard, and sure enough the lighting options were missing. It's unlikely you'd come across the issue on a modern PC as the USB controller chip in question is not found in recent PCs (the PC this is being used on is 10 years old), but be aware if you're using this with an older PC.

Basic 8tb drive in an enclosure with "RGB"
The Seagate 8tb RGB gaming hub is an odd product. Its a fairly easy to look at device that you can slap on your desk and connect to your pc to have an extra 8tb of storage. It houses a slightly modified version of one of their cheaper 8tb barracuda compute drives with a slight boost in rpm, but that was as much as I could discern from hwinfo. The performance is pretty lackluster, and also it limits itself to 3gb/s instead of the normal sata 6gb/s connection (drive states it supports the latter but the enclosure does not). It has a type C port on the front but uses the faster bandwidth micro B connector on the back to connect the device which feels odd to me. The power connector is bulky, and comes with every type of regional connector (plastic clips allow you yo swap it) for better or worse. I would not reccomend travelling often with it, and grab a 2.5 inch drive like a WD p10 if that is your goal. The raw read and write speed of this drive isnt bad, but random writes are dreadfully slow. It takes forever for steam to allocate space on this drive for larger games and the speed once it starts downloading is also fairly slow. I may update with examples from crystal disk once im back near the drive. It also sometimes stays powered on after pc turn off and sounds/feels like its still spinning. That actively spooked me and I unplug it now after shut down now. Overall very mediocre but the price was fairly alright. Depending where you buy it you get 1-3 years of drive recovery, if you get 3 its fairly worth it as i bet the value would be good even with the extra effort of sending it in. Lastly the RGB is not seemless with Razer Chroma like advertised. It is not automatically detected even with the extra add ons. I believe their is an external software also available with it that allows it to change but honestly that was fairly dissapointing as I hoped to just combo it with my mouse/keyboard. TL;DR = One of the more dissapointing buys in my end. On a 40% discount its kind of worth it but otherwise hard pass. Cheap drive in a cheap enclosure marketed to gamers. Not a big fan of Seagates cheaper solutions, steer clear if you want reliability / performance.

A beast
I’ve used a huge portion of this thing so far, 200+ games on steam, books, movies, you name it. Easy to backup, I’ve had it for a while now, holds up great! Makes some noise so be aware, and is a freaking brick that is gonna take up some space on the desk, and need to be powered. Overall, a game changer for my gaming pc, I can’t go back!

Cheaper by $100 than similar in my country. Fast shipping. Genuine Seagate. A big thumbs up.👍 Advertised as 8tb but only 7.2 tb available.👎
