We purchased the ANCEL BA101 Battery Tester for our equipment at Whatcom Excavation, and it has been a great tool to have on hand. It’s easy to use, gives quick and accurate readings, and has helped us diagnose battery and alternator issues on several trucks and machines. The display is clear, and the CCA testing has been reliable. For the price, it’s a solid piece of equipment that saves us time in the field and in the shop. Highly recommend for anyone needing a dependable battery and charging system tester.

Worked great first time I used it. Easy to use and set up. Made sure it was not my battery but my starter that was bad. I recommend this highly.

I saw this product tested on Project Farm and decided it was time to upgrade from my old battery tester, especially for the features versus price, and the recommendation of the Project Farm host. I jumped on it the other day when it was $4.00 off on a sale. I ordered it early in the morning and it arrived at my door the same day. I like that it has the battery test, starting circuit test, and the charging system test. I don't have any 24VDC batteries so I wasn't concerned that it didn't test those. I took it out to the garage and after breezing through the instructions and watching a couple YouTube videos I hooked it up to my 2013 RAV4's battery. It came on and displayed the menu. I picked battery installed and after entering my AGM flat plate battery and CCA it tested the battery and arrived at a GOOD BATTERY reading, but needed charged. I hooked up my 4A trickle charger and left it to charge up the battery. While it was charging up I took the tester outside to my 2000 Chevy Silverado and hooked it up. The battery tested GOOD BATTERY and I proceeded to test the charging system and the starting system. Both of those tests came back NORMAL. After the RAV4 battery charged up I tested it again and received a GOOD BATTERY result. I compared it to my old tester that only tests the battery and they were pretty close, and came up with the same GOOD BATTERY result. I like that this is small but has a lot of nice features packed into it such as keeping the CCA value so you don't have to re-enter it, reviewing the results, keeping several tests in memory, and the ability to print out the results. The display is backlit so it is easy to read. The clamps seem very robust and fairly heavy duty. This will do everything I want to keep tabs on my Truck, SUV, and UTV batteries health. Like I said before the shipping was quick and the package arrived at my door in good shape. Nothing not to like about this tool. One thing to note, when you perform the Quick Test the tester asks for the AH (Amp Hour Rating) of the battery only. If you divide the CCA of your battery by 7.5 you will get the approximate AH rating to enter into the tool.

Works as advertised, the manuals a little broken English but the unit is pretty easy to use, the one issue id it needs a USB power source and the USB cord provided is short, I recommend using a USB battery charging source to power it while in use.

I gave this 5 stars because it does exactly what I want a battery tester to do: it takes the guesswork out. Instead of wondering whether the problem is the battery, the charging system, or something else, this gives me a quick answer without dragging out a bunch of other tools. What I like most: It is easy to use, gives clear readings, and covers the information that actually matters. I like that it can check battery health, state of charge, cranking performance, and charging system performance all in one tool. That makes it useful not just for confirming a bad battery, but also for catching alternator or charging issues before they turn into a bigger headache. Useful features: Another big plus is that it works with a wide range of 12V lead acid batteries and supports plenty of battery rating standards, so it is more versatile than a one-trick tool. It also reads internal resistance, which is a feature I really like because it gives a better picture of battery condition than voltage alone. The fact that it can test on or off the vehicle is also very convenient. Why I bought it: I like having a tool like this around because it can save you from replacing parts blindly. A good battery tester pays for itself quickly the first time it helps you confirm whether a battery is actually bad or still usable. Bonus: Project Farm even did a video on battery testers, and that gave me even more confidence in this one. It was clearly one of the standout options in terms of value and real-world usefulness, which matched what I wanted. Bottom line If you want a battery tester that is easy to use, gives you more than just a basic voltage check, and helps you make better decisions before spending money, this is a great one to own. This tester works very well and stores the result of the last test(s) that can be printed if desired. It does take a print program that is not available from the regular Ancel site but a related one of theirs that is not linked to the main site. Go to YT and look up printing for this device and it will give you the links and how to set it up. It's not overtly obvious at the start, but once you get the hang of it, then it works fine. Overall, it is a very good tester and diagnosed my issue with no problem. It's a valuable tool to have.

I bought 4 of these based on a great test of many testers. This one was recommended for price and many reasons off a "Project ---" comparison test of many battery testers. Got here in 1 day to all 4 of us. At first it said my 2 yr old 4Runner battery was in "poor" health and to replace..Rated 600 CCA, but tester showed around 300. It starts fine. It showed my 12v trolling motor battery needing replacing also. I was ready send it back with bad review! Then I took the unit to my local Wal Mart battery dept and tested 4 car batteries from 410a to over 600 CCA. They all showed 100% and more CCA than painted on side!! I then check two 210CCA lawnmower batteries. They were 100% or 97% and around 280CCA.. Wow! Maybe it is as good as recommended. I like it giving me a CCA number. The best part was the young woman who was about to buy a big battery for her car I ran into her outside as the salesman was digging in to find her battery. They were getting to her 860CCA large battery in the "tire well area". She let me check it with the Wal Mart employee watching. It was 98% and showed more CCA that printed on the battery. The battery looked new. Later she said that she had some work on it recently and "O" R-------'S had sold her a new starter.. HMMM...She took a picture of the tester display, as I knew they were going to argue about the battery condition- after we told her to get another starter. Looked what is probably saved her. Soooooo, I came away now thinking this lil $35 device may be good after all. It is going to give me a bunch of info on aging batteries. I went home and checked my 210cca lawnmower battery. It wasn't 100% percent, but did show it "good" and the CCA was up there still! (That's my used lawnmower battery being tested in pix). I also was impressed with the charge on the batteries they were selling at WMart! So YES, I can recommend this tester. Now to see if alternator diagnostics any good.

This is handy. Bright, legible back-lit display, powered by the 12V battery being tested. This more than a simple voltage tester (though it reports that also). I really like it can test batteries while still connected to car or disconnected (you tell tester which way). Included USB cable (old-style mini-USB) isn't for charging, needed only for computer interface if you need to capture or print results (I haven't tried). Settings are a bit confusing with lots of options with how to describe battery capacity, but it seems that once you put one of them in, device starts testing. Built-in cable and clamps are fine. Correctly diagnosed failing battery, suggested "REPLACE" and the new battery tested at 100% happy. I don't think it capable of doing a full load test like the much larger testers, but great for its size and low cost.

It’s looks really do hide a truly great performing battery tester. A very good range of tests, all carried out with the most important factor - accuracy. Others on the market do ‘look’ better, where this just works as it should, and at a very good price point. The only way it could be improved would be the inclusion of a suitable storage case in place of the small card box it arrives in. Low cost and high performance. Superb little tool to have about.
