Love this water filter!
I'm not sure why this product got so many negative reviews - my boyfriend and I love our Soma filter! We just moved into an apartment together and my boyfriend swore by Brita pitchers, but I came across this Soma pitcher instead and I'll admit that a huge reason for purchasing it was the design. It looks super sleek and matches our white kitchen and bamboo accents perfectly. It holds 10 cups of water, which is plenty for us two! I refill it after every use out of habit, but it's plenty enough so that it's not annoying if my boyfriend uses it and forgets to refill, you know? We're from NJ and we don't notice any extra chlorine taste or that our water tastes weird/off at all. We both think that this filter works great and gives us quality drinking water! I noticed a lot of the reviews were about mold build up around the top and the confusion about cleaning the pitcher. We've been using ours for about 3 weeks now, and I haven't noticed any type of mold buildup yet. But if you go on Soma's website, they have very helpful videos explaining how to clean your filter and especially detach that part that a lot of these reviews complain about! :) Overall, we're very happy with our Soma pitcher. For the price, function, and design - I'd highly recommend! Plus you don't have to replace the filter for 4 months..beautiful!!

better redesign that original 10-cup pitcher!
same great pitcher, but handle design is more robust and better design attaching to plastic pitcher (see pics to compare old and new handle design). need to buy new one because the poor design of original model, which was about 4-5 years old....the base of handle where its attaches began to crack and started to break away, repaired with some flex tape and loctite glue, got an extra year out of it but crack reopened again....time for a new one. pleasant surprise with new handle design, glad they improved it....only negative difference from old one is when pouring with full amount of water filtered it tends to glug, glug, glug and splash a bit more when water leaves the spout, but might reduce over time. (FYI i dont use the lid, find it inconvenient when filling to capacity, so might be less glug with lid on). Also hope the white rubber seal around upper lip of cone doesn't discolor as bad as the old one did over time, despite frequent cleanings and attempts to remove discolor with bleach pastes like soft scrub. overall love the new pitcher, highly recommmend (especially at a used price under $40, which this one was, practically brand new), just wish it were glass instead of plastic like the smaller pitcher, maybe one day Soma will make it out of glass instead.

Doesn’t pour properly & cannot put in dishwasher
I really wanted to love this thing and have it replace my Brita pitcher, simply because it looked cooler. Sadly, thats about all it does. Here are its downfalls. 1.filter itself is a pain to deal with, its some funny bag you are supposed to pre-wet/soak before using, but it just falls over during this process and makes a mess. 2. Pitcher doesnt pour. The lid has a cool feature to help fill it, but there is barely any spout and there is a tiny hinges lis that covers the inadequate spout, so instead of pouring it just dribbles along the sides and makes a huge mess. Every. Single. Time. 3. When it gets dirty over time, you have to hand wash (which does not sanitize it btw like a dishwasher. This is because there is a wooden handle permanently affixed to the pitcher. So, you can never dishwasher or sanitize this thing properly. All said, this thing is over designed and fails at its most basic task - pouring water. Hard pass on this filter “pitcher.”

Love it but it doesn't last long before it molds and cannot be cleaned
I loved this filter and would order again. The water had a clean taste, and I used it for just over 2 years. However, after about 6 months I noticed the rubber ring seal around the top of the piece you remove to replace the filter had molded. I was able to scrub it and most of it removed, however there is now mold ingrained in the seal that cannot be scrubbed or soaked away. I even used antifungal cleaner on it with no effect. I will not be using mine any longer due to the inability to remove the mold in its entirety. Though there's not much to be said for its longevity, a few positive points are the taste, quick filtering speed, and aesthetic look of the pitcher.

I enjoy this pitcher very much, the top flap fill is really convenient and the pitcher is aesthetically pleasing. The water tastes great too, my apartment water has always tasted off, a must buy for picky mouths like mine!

Had this product for a couple of hours, yes it looks great BUT it has driven me crazy that the one design feature to get right is epically wrong, the pouring is slow and spills everywhere. How this product passed design / marketing is beyond me. Returned.

This unit has met my expectations. Water is smooth-tasting and free of impurities. Easy-fill top works well. Warm-feeling wooden handle is user-friendly. Light-weight for its capacity. Cool filter. Zero issues.

Beautiful design, works at advertised and super easy set-up. The only issue I have is the top flap where you intake water. The amount of time my sink pressure isn't hard enough...it just splashes water out. Every single day I have a cloth beside my pitcher just to clean off the spill at the top. Other than that...great!

We've owned 2 of these, and while they look great, when pouring water, it spills/runs down the side of the pitcher. Not a small amount either. If your technique is 'just right' you can avoid this, but this is tricky, and 90% of the time, it spills.
