Perfect in a Pinch!
I put off putting buttons on 3 pairs of shorts I have due to the hassle of having to sew them on! Well, I was able to very easily install these buttons on all 3 of my shorts in under 10 minutes. You don't need any special tools nor skills - a mini tool is supplied with the buttons to punch the small hole & to tighten the button in place. You can purchase them in various amounts & sizes for fixing your clothes, or for decorating clothes. I believe I bought the 20mm size & they were perfect for my shorts, and for jeans. I will not hesitate to buy them again when needed! [NOTE: Make sure to use the provided (or your own) Threadlock liquid to keep the buttons secure! One of my buttons came off its rivet recently - I had forgotten to apply the Threadlock 🤦🏽♂️.]

Works Great! with help
I had three pairs of working/walking shorts and one favorite pair of work pants, all missing waist band buttons. Wanting to avoid trip to tailor (for buttons?!), & I wasn't about to learn to sew - I looked and found these metal buttons - threaded bolts and nuts I can deal with. But, I always read reviews from the 3% of buyers who give one star ratings - I learned a lot and planned an improved approach (over the top? - Maybe.). First step was to pre-assemble (screw together) all stems to buttons. Mass-produced finely threaded metal fasteners (of any kind) from a non-US source are subject to problems. If there was to be trouble with cross threading or stripped out screws, I wanted to know which ones were bad. Nope - all worked fine. Second step was to challenge the use of the small phillips head screwdriver to puncture the waistband fabric. For that task, I turned to an awl ... has a sharper point, much better handle, and its expanding diameter shaft made a much large whole to accommodate the penetrating threaded pin. With the whole made and the threaded pin inserted through the waistband, I turned to another "adjustment". A small vial of glue is provided by vendor, but many bad reviews of this secret adhesive motivated a search for an alternative. I chose the latest from Loctite, their SuperGlue Ultra (is water resistant, and dishwasher safe) and ultra strong. The applicator (and application) was easy. A few drops on the small screw pin will cover all threads. With glue applied, simply screw shaft to button, and use the supplied mini-screwdriver to tighten the final few turns. You're done. Test button through button whole before starting ... button was too big to pass through easily in my test; I used a razor knife with new blade to carefully slice a 1/16" cut to enlarge button whole. Wait a day for superglue to fully cure and shorts/pants are ready to wear. It took me twice as long to write this review as it did to fix the three shorts and one pair of pants.

Screw on buttons
Four stars because we'll see how long it lasts very easy to put together, comes with thread lock blue in color so you can take it apart if need be that was a nice touch and looks good, good price see how long they last on the cargo shorts. Well had a chance to use it for a couple of days you pulled right through the hole so I managed to find a very skinny washer the screw itself should have a bigger head it's what I'm trying to say they're just okay.

I couldn't live without these.
Update: I've now installed over 20 of these buttons and have worn the pants through multiple washes, and have had zero failures! I do have a trick that works for me when installing the buttons. 1) Use the included screwdriver to twist drill through the fabric. 2) Holding on to the screwdriver on both sides of the fabric, pull it up, down, right, left, to make the hole large enough for the screw to go through. 3) Touch the end of the screw to the end of the screwdriver (as a guide), so when you pull out the screwdriver, the screw is guided into the hole in the fabric. 4) Use the screwdriver to basically screw the screw into the fabric. Make sure the screw threads are fully exposed, without loose threads wrapped around the threads. 5) Apply a small amount of the included blue threadlocker onto the screw threads (enough to lightly coat the exposed threads. 6) Careful to avoid crossthreading, screw the button onto the screw. Hand tight at first, following up with the screwdriver. I find that as you tighten the screw and it's just snug, wiggling the button around will sometimes allow the threads to go in more deeply. 7) You can use the button right away, but wait at least hours before washing the garment.

Nice button but too short for jeans waist button usage
These are nicely made buttons and I really like the color, but both the screw length and button post are too short for using on jeans for the waist closure button, at least for the pants I was trying to use them with (3mm thick at that point). For these the screw length is around 4.7mm, and the button post is 3.5mm. That would have made the button very hard to get in and out of the hole, plus not much grab for the screw. That screw needs to be a LOT longer otherwise it will be a bear to get on and not strip the screw. The Dritz 4-38 buttons that I normally use (and ran out of) on the other hand have a button post of 6.1mm and the backing pin is 7mm and work great. Decided to try these as I thought I needed something larger in diameter, but decided to return these and buy the 4-38 buttons again. I'm kinda questioning the screw method too, seems like it would easily unscrew. They did include thread lock fluid with it which maybe will help. The Dritz buttons can be a pain to install, but if you use a good bench vise and line everything up at the beginning it's easy to push the pin in. Just have to be careful not to push it too far in otherwise it will poke out the front.
