I make yogurt in an Instant Pot and use cheesecloth to drain the yogurt to get thicker Greek-style yogurt. In order to drain all of the yogurt at the same time, I use two Tupperware colanders ... this piece of cheesecloth was large enough to cut it in half and use each half in each colander. Since the cheesecloth was factory-sewn doubled, even though I cut it in half, it still was double thickness which works perfectly for my purpose. All I did was fold over the one raw edge on each half that I cut and machine sew it down. I gave up eventually and i thought the fibers sticking out of it would stick to the rice...they dont. I wet the cheesecloth and then put soaked rice in the cheesecloth, then place that in the bamboo cooker to steam. I bought these bags for cleaning a fish tank, yes that sounds odd, but I needed something fine enough to strain debris from the water so that I could retain some of the water for the tank so I wouldn't shock my fish. This works fantastic for that.
