I’ll start with what I do like. The many different pockets in convenient sizes and locations, for the most part. The main cabin is well shaped and sized. It also does look nice. However, it is super annoying that it falls over if you don’t “park it” the right way. What I mean is that if you don’t park the wheels in a certain position the bag falls over immediately. It is super top heavy and I only have a small MacBook and portable charger in the front pocket. The dirty laundry section is also absurdly small you might as well bring a trash bag.

Don't get the rating wrong: this is a *superlative* carry-on. The problem I have is with the price. Everything about this thing speaks to a very high quality: the zippers are impressive, easy to manipulate, tucked in securely so they don't protrude and perhaps get knocked off during baggage handling (I would be surprised if one would need to check in such a bag, it is specifically meant as a carry-on). I love the robust texture of the outer shell, ballistic nylon or somesuch, indestructible, etc., etc. Then there's the USB port, along with an included mobile reset pin instrument and the tiniest ballpoint pen attached like a toothpick on a Swiss Army knife (same company makes that as this). Awesome. There's no wobble or shake in the telescoping handle, which is easy to grasp and as smooth as rails changing the height, whisper soft yet firm as steel. The wheels are Formula 1 style:fast, and will roll over just about any surface you wish with minimal bumpiness, shock absorbency factor high. External handles smoothly lie flat after use but always readily grasped. Internally, we have not a lot of room--but remember, this is a carry-on. There is an attached, padded container for a 15" laptop. Straps will hold down any errant clothing. All very sleek. There's even a neoprene rubber-like compartment for a Swiss Army Knife! It's really an incredibly well-made carry-on that can be pushed smoothly around or pulled in a tilted way behind. So why the 3 star review? Almost $400 for a carry-on is a very hard pill to swallow indeed, unless you're not the kind to worry about such petty things. So, if you can easily afford it, it will be the best carry-on you will have ever seen (and the warranty is great: 1 year, all-expenses paid, + 10 additional years). If you can't, there are other saner, and not Swiss Army, solutions.

Victorinox's Carry-On suitcase is well made, sturdy, and has a lot of nice features. It's just a tad smaller than most carry-on suitcases. The Victorinox is made from your standard woven suitcase material. It's a tightly woven material with a smooth finish and slight sheen. The suitcase is nondescript and easily blends in with the hundreds of other black suitcases at the airport. Thankfully two gray stripes and the large logo make it easy to pick out upon closer inspection. Build and material quality is exemplary. The wheels roll smoothly, the interior is nicely finished, the zippers move smoothly and have large pulls, and the handles are a joy to grab. The one letdown is the telescoping handle. It feels robust and comes up smoothly, but I've struggled at times to get it to retract. The suitcase survived being checked on an airline twice, and being thrown under a bus multiple times. The suitcase is very thoughtfully organized. In the interior is a removable organizer that can be used to segregate clothes, store electronics, or wrap a garment around. There is a zippered section on the lid, a pocket for a Swiss Army knife, and a pocket that you can insert a portable USB battery into. When you plug the battery in you can access it through a USB port on the back of the suitcase. Additionally, on the back of the suitcase is a pull-out name tag panel with a small pen and cell phone SIM removal tool. The front of the suitcase has two small zippered compartments. While the suitcase is thoughtfully designed to make to most of its space, it is a bit narrow from front to back. I was able to pack enough clothes for a summer trip to Florida for a week, but I had to be very deliberate about what I took. Besides being narrow, the hardware for top handle and side handles is bulky and eats into interior storage space. Thankfully the suitcase is expandable as the need arises. All in all... a great suitcase.

This is my first experience with Victorinox luggage. I travel a lot for work and am always looking for some good luggage. I'm hoping this can become my travel companion, but it's too early to tell quite yet. I have to say that I found the high price quite surprising. For a carry-on, it should blow me away. I wouldn't say it accomplished that, but it does have some really nice features for the price. The zippers are exceptional. They open and close like butter, and do not get caught on anything. The wheels are the smoothest wheels I've ever used on luggage. If you're walking and stop suddenly, your bag will keep rolling easily so watch out! It's these kinds of details that add to the price, but are worth it if you travel frequently. It includes a luggage lock along with a female USB charging port. You can connect a battery pack inside the suitcase (interior zippered pocket) and then just connect your device to the suitcase. The problem with this is that all my external battery packs have a power button that must be pressed to turn them on. So you have to open the suitcase to press the power button in order to charge your device, which kind of defeats the purpose. It has a laptop case inside that will fit up to a 15" laptop and a tablet (two separate zippered pockets). This is nice, but again you have to open the suitcase to access it. It also has a garment bag built in, which is nice if you need to travel with clothes you don't want to fold up. That all being said, this suitcase doesn't hold much. I have my toiletry bag, a pair of shorts, 3 shirts and a pair of running shoes and it's completely full. Yes, it has compression straps to try to get you more room, but this is the smallest carry-on I've ever used. It's big enough for <maybe> a 2 day trip, but that's about it. Anything longer or if you have a larger toiletry need, you'll need something bigger. For the price, I was hoping this would hold more. It's smaller than your average carry-on, but that's less important than it being able to actually hold clothes. Keep that in mind when you're considering this luggage. Otherwise, the quality is exceptional and the attention to detail is quite impressive.

As an expert packer and frequent traveller I was happy to give this Victorinox Carry-On a try. The bag is sturdy and nice looking as well as lightweight. It rolls easily and the telescoping handle is adequate. The interior of the bag is roomy but the wheel rods are imbedded into the case so you still have to pack between them. I roll my base layer of packing to even out the bottom and then place packing cubes or the rest of my clothing rolled on top. Cosmetics and small items are fitted into "holes." The garment section was a disappointment. I placed two hangers with clothing through the hanger holder and the hangers were slightly too big, although I could close the top and zipper it. When I arrived at my destination the hangers were loose and one broke. These were standard velour hangers. For the price of the suitcase 3 hangers that fit the bag should be included. I will probably remove the hanging feature and leave the piece at home never to be used. A small TSA approved lock is included, the bag does not have the integrated lock shown in photos. In my opinion the USB charging feature is a waste. It is inside of the luggage and you have to put your own battery pack in it. Why would I not use my own battery pack outside of the bag? Totally confounds me. (Another well known luggage brand offers this feature and I thought it was dumb when I purchased a hard sided carry on from them.) One outside pocket is roomy and the other is appropriate for travel documents and a phone. Fully loaded this rolled nicely and easily. The zippers are high quality and perform great. This is a practical black bag that meets International standards. It expands to add lots of packing space but will probably have to be checked if fully expanded and packed. The computer case is padded nicely but it is bulky and for a large computer, not something I will use.
