Vicks Mini Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier - 1.6L Tank

A lifesaver for dealing with the kids coughs! Each year, my daughter gets the usual coughs and colds, and really really struggles shifting the cough. Aside from the usual keeping hydrated, calpol, cough medicine and propping her up, I have felt like there is little I can do to help. She's struggled through restless nights, as I have having broken sleep due to coughing episodes. I bought this after some research suggested this would help, and it's been a lifesaver. It has made a considerable difference to her ability to get better sleep, less disturbed by coughing. It's a good size, not too small, and adequately works in her rather large room. There's no jarring or disturbing light, and it also runs very quietly. It feel well made, and I have shown my daughter how to operate it herself (she's 6). I am using this with the vicks pods, which you can easily load and remove in the side. These also I would recommend. It's easy to fill, and I've not noticed any puddles of water or spillages as some report with other devices. I haven;t had to clean or sterilise it yet, but I generally use Milton tabs so would imagine submerging this in the sink will do the job.

Can’t vouch for the effectiveness of the Vicks inserts as I’ve not had a cold since to test, but as a humidifier with a cooling mist definitely useful at night especially on the very hot night recently.

I like this little Vicks humidifier, especially when using the Vicks pads - I can smell them clearly, though my husband couldn’t smell them at all, so that might vary person to person. The humidifier itself feels like it’s doing its job, and it’s nice and compact and quiet. The only downside is that it doesn’t have a built-in humidity monitor. I had to buy one separately, which would’ve been so much easier if it was included. Otherwise, it’s a handy little unit for small rooms.

Honestly... I hate it. I was hoping it would improve my breathing at night, but the vicks sheets lasted maybe a day or two. The coldness is just not there, and will do absolutely nothing in the heatwave, except maybe add moisture to the already hot air. The worst part is the electricity. I was horrified to find it burns thru the electric at a rapid rate, so leaving the monster on over night will cost a fortune, for so little effect. If it actually worked, I could overlook the money guzzle to some degree, but it barely helps even cool the air, does nothing for breathability and costs a fortune to run. For the heat, a fan is literally better than this, even with ice cubes in the thing.

I got this humidifier as me and my babies have had dry coughs and congestion for a few days. I’ve turned it on today and already see an improvement in symptoms. The machine is a perfect size for us and so easy to use. I have used the vapour pads in the machine and it smells great, not as strong as some Vicks products but enough to have a pleasant smell. Overall it’s a great quality machine with basic settings making it easy for everyone to use

Bought this for my two year old with an awful cough and blocked up sinuses. Originally used the calpol plug in but wasn’t helping her that much, this on the other hand she’s been able to sleep better through the night and it makes the air a lot fresher/cooler. Does the job for what’s needed - happy with purchase :)

Small tank, not enough for a full day/night without refills. Perfect for a nightstand or desk, but not for large rooms or all-night use without topping up.

I had the previous version of this and these humidifiers have been a game changer with my kids and their cols and night time coughs. This updated version improves on the older one in almost every way. The new one is smaller and has a redesigned water tank which makes it easier to clean, less place for mould to gather and has a directable steam outlet at the top so you can angle which way it pumps out. This new unit is quiet and features two trays for the scent pads should you want to use two. Steam output is adjustable and it has a warning light/beep to remind you to clean it. Cleaning is by way of diluted bleach int he tank but I've used milton tablets to great success. Cleaning is vital or mould and minerals will start to appear and that becomes a health risk. Whilst this new unit is easier to clean it still needs cleaning every 2-3 days. When finished take time to steriliser and properly dry the tank before storing it away. This, and indeed the previous unit have bene game changers for us. Literally stopped our 3 year olds night cough and she and us were happier and rested as a result.

The humidifier do not last all night unless is on low

Brilliant. Review is late as we've had this for a while now and it is the BEST sleep-aid for us when we or our children have flu especially.

It does the work, but if you’re purchasing for your baby’s room consider that it has a green flashy light and it bubbles. I returned it.
