Has anyone hurt their self with the shell? I was very careful with it, but somehow I slit my finger open...badly.

Can these shells be use for saltwater hermit crab home?

Based on my purchase I would not recommend it. The shell had a very pungent odor and was returned.

The description says that this “should be kept away from children,” but also that it is “best gift for children.” Can you clarify which it is?

I don't remember that description. Crazy, huh?!! I suppose "keep away" because it's probably spiky and it can break fairly easily, but also it's a good gift for an inquisitive child since it's a natural shell, and would be a good collectible. My shell is truly lovely, and I'm very pleased with it. Incidentally, I don't have children.
