Worked for Cobalt Flux Dance Pads on Windows 10
I have a pair of Cobalt Flux dance pads I originally got to play DDR on my PS2. I tried a lot of different driver and adapter combinations to get my Windows 10 laptop (running Stepmania 5.1) to recognize their input properly. After many hours of failure, I finally got some success with an old "Trenro Dual PlayStation/PlayStation 2 to PC USB Controller Adapter" that I had purchased from Amazon long ago. This was nearly perfect, though it did swap the pads around so the one plugged into the left slot was player 2 and the one in the right was player 1. This HDE Adapter looked almost exactly the same, so I gave it a try, and voila! It worked on Windows 10 (I didn't even need to install any drivers), and when I ran joy.cpl (a joystick/controller diagnostic program that comes with Windows), I could see that each button press registered reliably. I was able to map all the buttons in StepMania, including "Start" and "Select" from my cobalt flux control box that converts from the pad pin out to PS2). I just had to enable the Axis Fix feature in StepMania for the up/down and left/right jumps (through Options -> Input Options -> Advanced Input Options -> Axis Fix), so that two opposite directional arrows will be recognized at once. So many of the other adapters available just don't seem to work with PS2 dance pads, so I was very happy to find this.

Not for Windows 7 64-bit
This is an echo of some other reviews I read but I figured I'd be right up front about it. Doctor Who is a great show. You should watch it. On topic, I can't honestly give the item a rating because I wasn't able to use it, so I'll go with the one star. I read the regular description, and while I normally look over the reviews as well, this time I didn't. At least not for this iteration. This little blue plastic deal is on Amazon multiple times, so I think I had looked over one of the other ones at some point before getting this one and missed the "it doesn't work on Windows 7 64-bit" part. I probably browsed it while watching Doctor Who. I wanted something to use my PS2 controllers with the PSCX2 emulator because the cheap USB PS3 controller did not separate the analog sticks from the D-pad and buttons (kinda dumb, but that's another product entirely). So my entire goal was finding something to get me some analog sticks to work. I plugged it in initially, and I got the same basic result as my USB controller except that the analog sticks did nothing. I installed the drivers on the CD-R that came with it (yeah, a CD-R; my cheap USB controller came with the same brand of mini CD-R of worthless drivers), and still nothing. I searched the internet for drivers, and nothing I found worked. Sure, the buttons worked, but I need those analog sticks. Not even my sonic screwdriver that people tell me is just a toy. I don't believe them. It totally unlocks my car doors if I'm secretly holding my keyfob in my other hand. I thought about trying it again later, but then I remembered how long I worked on that USB controller to no end, and I decided to just return the silly thing and try something else. Does it work? Sort of. I got the buttons to all work, so it does read the controller and translate it to something the computer can see. Several people say it works, so perhaps their OS is different from mine. On Windows 7 64-bit, though, it will not. Don't waste your time with it. On the bright side, I did also get a Mayflash N64 to USB converter and it worked fine, so I'm trying the Mayflash version of the PS2 to USB that does GameCube and Xbox as well. Maybe there will be some love there. Just like people love Doctor Who. And those Fempiror things.

I don't bloody believe it! IT WORKS!!!
It works!! It ACTUALLY works!! No CD, no setup, no driver, no bull!! It has a few kinks, however; I can get it do lateral movements (up, down, strafe, etc), and Control Stick and Action Buttons Work (O,X, Square, Triangle, etc); they count as "Joy Buttons". But getting the Controller Stick to recognize Aiming is tricky... I have trouble getting that to work.... maybe you could make it work?.... You still have to rely on the keyboard for Chat and other Functions, and the Mouse for Aiming (FPS) or Menu Interface; so DON'T chunk that Mouse thinking the Controller does everything! If I can't get the Aiming to work like a Consel FPS, I just use the Mouse to Aim with my Right Hand, and the Controller's Left Thumb Stick in my Left Hand for latteral movement (up, down, strafe, etc); it works well that way.. ;) heh heh. Of coarse, you can always reverse the Controlls if your Right Handed (the Action Buttons to Move). But the BOTTOM LINE IS: it works. It's not perfect, it's a ways off from replacing those expensive PC Controllers (which do work), and it's not a full release from a Keyboard (I recomend a Wireless), but it sure beats that clunky, tank-like Mouse and Keyboard style! (No dis to any Keyboard users- if you can master it, more power to you) Score 1 for us Controller Purists! The time for Consel x PC Crossover is here! Well, sort of. At least affordably!

Great Adapter but Doesn't Work on all Games!!!
The adapter just came in yesterday. It works great for PS3 and PC. Mine is transparent blue and was supplied by HDE. It also included an mini-CD with drivers on it. (didn't need it) I tried it on 250gb PS3 Slim firmware version 3.61. There are various things it lacks compared to a PS3 DS3 controller, but works great for a cheap alternative. It doesn't have a home button, the L2,R2 are just buttons not triggers, the rumble from the DS2 doesn't work on PS3, and lastly obviously there is no sixaxis on the DS2. The other thing when using the adapter is that the PS3 doesn't detect the controllers as player 1 and P2, but instead P2 and P3. The XMB, or home screen, can be controller with any controller. However, a regular PS3 controller is required to access home during game, to set-up the game/play single player mode, and play Call of Duty:MW2 online (not sure about split screen). The one game that didn't work with the adapter at all is NBA 2k11. NBA 2k11 identified the two controllers, but wouldn't respond to any of the buttons. Now to discuss the PC side. I tried the adapter on Windows 7 64bit. I just plugged it in after plugging in the DS2 into the adapter, and the native driver installed in a minute or so. It installed the driver "Twin USB Joystick". Whether you have both controllers plugged in or not, two show up in "Game Controllers". All buttons work fine, but the rumble doesn't work. I can use the controller in XPadder (which asigns keyboard keys of your choice to each button). This allows me to use the controller in practically any game. For emulators, it works just fine just Input the Configuration. Overall this adapter is great!!! It is very inexpensive especially when using for PS3. If you have two old PS2 controllers laying around, then I would recommend you get this adapter as PS3 Controllers are pretty expensive and this for $4 gives you two more controllers that works with most games. So if your friends are coming over, this a cheap way to play multiplayer. If your worried about the controller being wired/tethered then you can get a PS2 Wireless controller. It works great!

It works...after hours of headaches.
I bought this adapter to use my RedOctane Ignition 2.0 dance pad with Stepmania. Unfortunately I had not known about the compatibility problems before I bought it, or else I might have saved myself a lot of time by spending a bit more on a better quality adapter. Although the packaging and item description do not say, the pictured adapter is a Dilong 203. The adapter I received was the cobalt blue, semi-transparent one with a round depression on the top. Some people have said that this lights up when you plug a controller into it, but mine didn't. In fact, when I received it I could hear something rattling around inside of the adapter like a piece had broken off but I didn't bother asking for a refund because it doesn't affect the usage. The adapter has two ports for PS2 controllers or dance pads. Be careful when you tear open and throw away the packaging because there is a minidisc with drivers on it stuck between the two folds of cardboard in the packaging. Some people have said that these drivers made the device work. They actually made mine unusable so I ended up uninstalling them. If you have Windows 7, the device is recognized and installed automatically. If you plan to use this for regular controllers, you should be okay from here. However, if you have a dance pad, prepare for a nightmare. The main problem with this adapter is that it registers the buttons by axis rather than as individual buttons. Imagine the difference between D-pad directional buttons that are all part of the same base and the four separate buttons (x, o, triangle, square). This shouldn't be too much of a problem in other games where multiple directional buttons are never pressed together, but with a dance pad this makes hitting two directional buttons at the same time impossible. I spent hours digging through Stepmania forum posts before I finally got it to work. First, you have to re-calibrate your dance pad through the Windows 7 Control Panel EVERY SINGLE TIME you want to play the game. In addition, you have to download and run a script that gives coordinates for the x, y, and z axes positions when you press two buttons at the same time, edit a second script to include this data, and then run the second script while Stepmania is running just to force the adapter to recognize the left and right/up and down arrows as separate buttons rather than buttons on an axis. Then you have to program your Stepmania controls on the dance pad. Also, the script that runs behind Stepmania causes your keyboard to spam the A and W keys nonstop so you literally have to close the script and make your dance pad unusable before you can use any other programs, including Windows. And if you happen to forget to change the settings on your taskbar to not hide tray icons, the script will cause an error when you try to right-click close it, which will result in the need for a complete system restart. It's an absolute nightmare, especially if you're not computer savvy enough to figure out how to do all of this. Fortunately a simplified version of the instructions are available in the Stepmania forums. Overall, the adapter works, but it took me hours to figure out how to get it to function properly. It would be better to either buy a dance pad that has a USB port already built into it (such as the RedOctane Ignition 5.0 pad) or find a better adapter that works with Stepmania. For anyone else looking for an adapter for this reason, I recommend checking the forums before you make your purchase.

PS PS2 USB Dual Controller to PC Adapter Converter
Like others have said, this controller was not transparent blue, but came in a black color. I didn't mind, it actually looks better in black in my opinion. The converter works great, I plugged it into my Windows Vista laptop and it installed and began working right away. I noticed others had problems getting the analog sticks to work (I'm using a PS2 controller). At first I had the same problem, the Left and Right analog stick didn't register in the game controllers (located in control panel), neither did the L3 and R3 buttons. After 2 hours of fiddling around to see if I could find drivers or a keyboard-mouse-joystick remapping software, I noticed a mistake on my part, remember to TURN ON the "Analog button" between the two analog sticks. After I turned it on, everything was working like a charm. I'm using Xpadder to play Maplestory, it works great. If your using Windows Vista, you will notice that the joystick will work on the desktop, but when playing Maplestory, it does not work. You need to turn OFF 'User Account Control' (you can find that in 'control panel>user accounts') after you restart, it should work right away. Good Luck PC gamers! *Also* Product works with Windows XP (plug and play)

Not worth the hassle!
Well, I suppose I should preface this by saying that while I DID read the reviews as I always do before purchasing something online I did NOT read far enough into it. Had I had done so I would never have purchased this. As soon as I received this I installed all the drivers on the included mini CD. I run Windows 7 x64 PRO by the way. The CD had no viruses, no issues. Once I went into the control panel hardware I saw that windows saw both controllers. I also could see the corresponding buttons being pressed for each controller within the configuration utility. Keep in mind you MUST PRESS THE ANALOG button to even get the adapter to see the PS2 controllers. Otherwise, I thought it was good to go. Pretty sweet, right? WRONG. Even though Windows appeared to see both controllers, and both appeared to be working, I could not get it to work with ANY PROGRAMS whatsoever. I tried xpadder and some other button configuration utilities and while I was able to see both controllers in each program it would not let me assign any buttons. I screwed with this crap for FOUR HOURS trying to get it to work and failed. Basically, it's like a button was stuck or maybe being repeatedly pressed and it would just spaz out and not let me assign any buttons. I don't know what the problem was but I don't care. What's the moral of the story? DO NOT BUY THIS. You would be better off spending that $10 on a taco bell meal and risking Hershey squirts! I just purchased two wireless xbox 360 controllers, which is what I should have done in the first place. Sure, it's almost $100 when shipping is done but you know what? NO BS and I guarantee that they will plug and play flawlessly. You get what you pay for truly stands in this case.

Unable to handle multidirection
This adapter should work for most games. However, players of rhythm games (Such as Stepmania and DDR) beware: This device does not support pressing two opposing directions at once consistently. You will find yourself missing steps/beats if you're tapping the correct button while the other one is depressed. This makes most rhythm games unplayable. I'm giving this two stars because for most people who aren't playing rhythm games, this device will probably work fine. Most games do not require you to press both left and right at once, and filtering one when the other is pressed might even be considered useful for cutting down input noise. I was able to confirm that it was, in fact, the converter box, because I used an XBox 360 controller and simulated the same scenario with the buttons on the target game. This limitation did not appear, and the limitation certainly does not exist on the PS2 where the dance pad is normally plugged in. I would prefer that the device would be a straight pass-through and not make any judgements on the input. Making this assumption has killed the product's usefulness for me.

Useless drvier
I have an old Liksang SmartJoy Dual that run flawlessly without drivers. PS2 HDE offiical website claim that the adapter does not need drivers for Windows 10. The Built-in driver see the device, but fail to detect buttons press. The disc included 8 driver, I used the double vibration driver (The one suggested by some reviews). The driver fail to install if you dont have Direct x 7. (WOW its 2020 nobody use Directx 7 anymore) The driver still load, but crash .DLL library in the config pannel with Windows 10 1909. Seriously, unless you got a Windows XP or a linux distro that support this junk save your money and buy an PS4 Controller. Microsoft does not support PS4 controller, but at least Steam does so you wont waste your money. Thank me later.
