How is it on mold or mildew on cloth book covers?

I applied only to paper ends not the cover

It is. I was pleased with the results it produced. I purchased and used Absorene to clean the covers on a collection of books (100+ yrs.old) that I own.

Old Bible, leather cover. Got wet and now the back pages are stained and stink. I want to recover but will this work to rid it of the stains/smell?

These sponges are very soft and bendy. We found it difficult to clean the front cover of a hardback. I cant imagine trying to use it on the fragile pages of a bible. I'm sure it will clean the leather cover to a certain extent but if the leather has absorbed the liquid spilled on it, you may have a very hard time extracting the smell.
