Probably the best SSD in 2.5 format out there!
To be fair honest, I don't like m2 format ssd disks, they are very unsafe and the placement is uncomfortable a little loose, weak... You can offer me a 20tb m2 disk and i will not buy it still, i like it plug and play easy to install and fast, reliable, nothing to envy to m2 format. For me SSD 2.5 is still the most solid option you will find out there at a very good price. Maybe in some years we will see another technology using pci express like the graphic card? Maybe another sata technology? Idk but that needs to be much more safer and comfortable than actual m2 socket and its ridiculous installation. Samsung ssd is the best for me and Iam so happy with it. Is a must for your operating system.

Solid construction, reliable, and fast read times
After my original SSD hard drive was on the fritz, I decided to switch to a Samsung based on user reviews. Install was a breeze (I'm using it as my custom video editing desktop's main OS hard drive for faster boot/load times), and it's been rock solid after daily heavy use. I can confidently recommend this drive.

What can you say about a totally predictable, quality product?
I wind up buying a fair number of Samsung disks. I bought this one in particular to be the "fast tier" in a Windows Storage Space, in an external enclosure. The EVO line quality is not as good as the Pro, but for my purposes and the speeds involved (it's basically caching 48TB of mechanical disks-- by the way, the "Renewed" 12TB WD disks on Amazon happen to be brand new.) Because of how I have it set up, I can't run a test specifically on this drive (it's part of a volume of 6 disks), but this is an excellent drive for nearly any end user.

Easy-peasy. Drive clone
Omg. Samsung. You have new customer for life. I have upgraded PC’s in the past but this was a piece of cake and glorious! I had older Samsung 500gb drive. Always full. Ordered the 1TB with intention of it being a second drive…. But even better it became my first drive using their simple free apps. “Samsung magician” and “data migration” tools. The DM tool is what you want first. Just plug in the new Ssd into free SATA plug and power plug inside pc. Run the data transfer program, which clones the whole existing drive and OS onto the new drive. Boot the pc holding DEL key to enter blue setup mode and then just switch the primary boot device to the new HD. You may need to also change HD priority in Setup screen. Boot up computer as normal, main HD is now twice as big and old 500gb HD is the backup drive. No windows OS issues. Just worked. Very happy. If it works like this every time, I’ll just keep buying next size up Samsung HD Ssd whenever I run out. Impressed.

One issue
This drive is everything others say. It's lightning fast, and the Samsung software download made the changeover easy. The only issue I had was when I put it in an external housing and connected it via USB, the computer won't assign a drive letter to it because it hasn't been partitioned or formatted. You need to use Windows disk management to assign a drive letter. At once you do that, the migration software will handle the rest. It you are going to leave it in the housing as a backup drive, you just need to do the next step and format it so that you can use it for storage.

I replace the 1tb Hitachi HDD in my Asus UX303 14inch laptop with this 512gb SDD. I'm not a techie, so, after watching mulitple instructions on Youtube, I very slowly and carefully, managed to get it swapped successfully. The Samsung Magician software also makes the process very intuitive and without a hitch. My old laptop has just been given a new life. Boot up is so much faster. I'm a happy man!

I purchased the Samsung 870 EVO 1TB SSD on December 7, 2024, to upgrade my PlayStation 4 Slim, which previously had a standard HDD. I’m happy to report that the improvement in performance has been phenomenal. Performance The most noticeable upgrade has been the boot speed. With the HDD, my PS4 took a significant amount of time to start up and load into the home screen, but with the 870 EVO SSD, the boot time has reduced dramatically. It feels like an entirely new console. Game loading times have also improved considerably. Titles that previously required long waits—such as open-world games with large maps—now load much faster. This has significantly enhanced the gaming experience, reducing frustration and keeping me immersed in the gameplay. If you’re looking for a way to breathe new life into your PS4 or even other devices with SATA storage, this SSD is a fantastic choice. Build Quality and Longevity Samsung is known for its reliable and durable SSDs, and the 870 EVO is no exception. Although the price is on the higher side compared to other SATA SSDs, the value is in the quality you’re getting. The high TBW (Terabytes Written) rating of this SSD gives me confidence that it will outlast cheaper options by 2-3 times, especially in a console setup where frequent data reads and writes occur. I see this as a long-term investment. Spending a little more upfront for a trusted brand like Samsung ensures peace of mind, as I won’t have to worry about replacing the drive for many years. Warranty and Service Another key highlight is the 5-year warranty that comes with the Samsung 870 EVO. Samsung has an excellent track record of customer service and honoring warranties. In case something does go wrong, their support system is well-regarded, and replacement or repair services are usually hassle-free. This makes the premium price feel justified, knowing that your purchase is protected for such a long period. Final Thoughts If you’re on the fence about upgrading your PS4, PC, or other SATA-supported device, the Samsung 870 EVO 1TB SSD is an excellent choice. While the price may seem a bit steep compared to budget options, you’re paying for top-tier performance, durability, and brand reliability. It’s perfect for users who want to extend the life of their device and enjoy faster boot times and loading speeds. For gamers, it’s an especially worthwhile upgrade, as the difference in performance is immediately noticeable. Pros: • Significantly improved boot and loading speeds for PS4 Slim. • High TBW rating ensures long-term reliability. • 5-year warranty backed by Samsung’s excellent service. • Durable build and consistent performance. Cons: • Slightly more expensive than budget SSDs. Verdict: Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable SSD upgrade, especially for gaming or frequent use scenarios!
