It all happened so quickly. First, animals became infected with the virus and their meat became poisonous. Then governments initiated the Transition. Now, 'special meat' - human meat - is legal. Marcos is in the business of slaughtering humans - only no one calls them that. He works with numbers, consignments, processing. One day, he's given a gift to seal a deal: a specimen of the finest quality. He leaves her in his barn, tied up, a problem to be disposed of later. But she haunts Marcos. Her trembling body, and watchful gaze, seem to understand. And soon, he becomes tortured by what has been lost - and what might still be saved. Review: Unique story must read - Quite disturbing. I am going to think of this for long time. Review: It is kinda disturbing but best book to read - Niceeee ......

Will keep you awake at night, leaving you wondering.
Very interesting book, given the world is already heading towards it’s demise. But the book? Great quality covers and thick sturdy pages.

Needed a little more nuance, a little tenderness.
You can read the book at a pleasant speed and the plot moves smoothly. But, it places too much emphasis on shock value and neglecting or stepping aside anything humane. Resembling Critical animal studies, the book is intended to provoke a discourse of animal ethics and factory farming. Yet by making all humans cannibals, I think it misses the point of treating every organism with respect. Will anybody care about others if your own species is demented. More importantly, it homogenizes animals, reducing all their diversity by just calling them animals, grouping fishes, insects, dogs, cats, snakes and parrots. I found that rather Cartesian, something the novelist would have aimed to critique.

Great read for gore lovers
The book was very heavy. I read it completely in just three days and it has some gruesome content. The story is very bizarre which is expected. It was fun to read but I would have loved if there was more to read.

Stomach churns while reading this book.Paperback condition of paper is very good quality.
Extreme gory, horror & scary book. This isnt like a story or a plot, it’s as if the writer reports of things happening in a dystopian universe. Keep away from children or weak-minded adults. It can give U nightmares. The narration of capitalising human meat consumption, making it legal is written clear & concisely, easy to understand of how that world operates making breeding humans as livestock. Finished this in 6hrs. Gruesome, but a curious-filled read. Am going to watch cartoon movies now to ease my mind.

Worth reading to understand how we get our food.
If you have finished reading this book you should watch the 'Dominion' documentary by the Animal Transparency Project on YouTube.

Disturbingly great read
This is absolutely disgusting but sucks you in! I read it cover to cover in one day. The twists are subtle but jaw dropping at times. I will recommend to friends with a strong stomach.

A good read and mild entry to extreme horror
I liked the story and the themes it presented but at the end it felt kind of rushed as if the author had nothing else to talk about. I also wish the characters were more fleshed out because at times I would confuse each character have to re read sections to see if it was another character or a new one other than that it’s a good read. The ending was a shock lol

No te deja indiferente

One of the best novel of the past years.
Finished reading almost a year ago, and I'm still thinking about it. The ending is spectacular, truly a joy to see that such stories can still be written in the abyss of contemporary unoriginality.

Had higher expectations
The book was intriguing, could stop reading it to be honest. I personally didn’t think the ending was shocking at all. I was told that this was a super creepy book but after reading it I just don’t think it’s all that terrifying. I will say however I was quite creeped out by how it was made to seem that harvesting people could actually be something to happen irl.
