GREAT NO-FRILLS SENSOR- 35 second recovery time!
UPDATED BELOW I picked this up for $15.99 and so far so good. The sensor is about as small as it could possibly be and still fit two AAA batteries inside. It paired right away via Zigbee with my Hubitat C-5 hub and no other configuration was required (but see the little quirk below in the update). It does not have a tamper sensor. The only data returned by the sensor are motion and battery level. The coverage area is nice and wide and I was pleased to discover that the motion sensing recovery time is only about 35 seconds. Why does this matter? I currently have six Bosch motion/temp sensors in various places and one of them is right outside my front door. I happened to get those on some sort of weird flash sale for $30 each where they were normally about $90. For $30 they are just fine, but they are large, take 4AA batteries, and most significantly have a MINIMUM three-minute recovery time in between motion sensing events. I use one of the Bosch sensors to alert me when one of my two dogs has returned from whatever adventures they were having outside. They tend to do their own thing and one of them almost always comes back before the other one. If they return more than three minutes apart then it's not problem and I get two separate alerts for the two different dogs and can open the door twice. But if the second dog comes back during the three-minute window right after the first, the Bosch motion sensor won't pick up the new motion alert and the second dog will be forced to wait outside with no recognition from his owner. No big deal right? He just has to wait another three minutes. Well, no. If you are within the three-minute recovery period and the sensor is tripped again, it starts a NEW three-minute recovery period. Assuming the dog doesn't freeze to death and keeps moving at some point during that three-minute period, the sensor will just keep re-tripping and going into an endless loop of three-minute recovery periods until the dog finally freezes or dehydrates. Thus the dilemma. With the 35-second recovery period of this sensor, I have now reduced the potential mortality rate of my second dog to return home by a factor of five. Good progress. UPDATE: The first sensor continues to work great a month later. I bought two more via the two-pack deal. The first one paired up instantly with zero issues. The second one paired up fine but came up as (blank) for the device type (Hubitat C-5 hub) and very strangely showed "Signify NV" as the manufacturer instead of ThirdReality. I tried changing the device type manually to "Generic Zigbee motion sensor- no temp," which is what the other two sensors automatically configured as. The sensor would show up as a device in my Hubitat device list but would not report any data. I removed it, did a factory reset, re-added, repeated, and still had the same problem. Posted a question here to see if there was a firmware update. Before I gave up, I tried one last thing that I had zero expectation of working. I removed the device again from Hubitat, held down the reset button and did a factory reset, and then took the batteries out. While holding down the reset button, I put the batteries back in and did one more reset. I have no idea why or how, but this somehow fixed the issue. The sensor paired up no problem with Hubitat, configured as "Generic Zigbee motion sensor- no temp" and properly showed "ThirdReality" as the manufacturer. From there on out the sensor worked just fine. I can't explain it but if you have the same weird problem I did, try doing a couple factory resets and holding down the button while taking the batteries out and then putting them back in. LOL the mysteries of the universe.

Works great with Samsung hub.
Worked great and easy to set up. I have other motion sensors that also have temperature available, but this one does not. I bought it for motion sensing and that works great. I use a Samsung Smart Things hub.

The Unsung Heroes of Home Assistant: THIRDREALITY Zigbee Motion Sensors!
As a Home Assistant enthusiast, I'm always on the lookout for reliable and affordable Zigbee devices to expand my smart home ecosystem. And let me tell you, these THIRDREALITY Zigbee Motion Sensors have become my absolute go-to for my motion automation needs. I pretty much stalk them, waiting for sales to stock up, and I have them strategically placed all over my house. What really makes these sensors shine, especially for Home Assistant users, is their rock-solid compatibility. They pair effortlessly with my Zigbee coordinator (using ZHA, of course!), and their responsiveness is fantastic. I've set up automations for lights turning on when I enter a room, fans activating, and even security alerts, and these sensors trigger them without a hitch. It's truly a "set it and forget it" experience, which is exactly what you want when building a smart home. Plus, the battery life on these things is phenomenal. I'm talking months, if not over a year, before I even need to think about replacing the AAAs. No more constantly swapping out those tiny, expensive coin cell batteries from other brands! Pros: * Flawless Home Assistant Integration: Pairs easily and works reliably with ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT. * Excellent Battery Life: Seriously, the AAA batteries last an incredibly long time, saving you hassle and money. * Reliable Motion Detection: Quick and accurate triggers for your automations. * Pet-Friendly: Designed to minimize false alerts from your furry friends, which is a huge bonus! * Good Value: Especially when you grab them on sale, they're a cost-effective way to blanket your home with motion detection. * OTA Firmware Updates: The ability to update firmware through Home Assistant is a nice touch, ensuring long-term compatibility and potential improvements. Cons: * No Temperature/Illuminance Sensor: Unlike some other motion sensors on the market, these are purely motion detectors. If you need additional data, you'll need separate sensors. * Rectangular Form Factor: While unobtrusive, some might prefer a smaller or rounder design for certain placements. Overall, if you're diving deep into Home Assistant or any other Zigbee-compatible smart home hub, you simply cannot go wrong with the THIRDREALITY Zigbee Motion Sensors. They're a fantastic, reliable, and affordable choice that will truly elevate your home automation game.

Please Stay Away!!!
The THIRDREALITY Zigbee Motion Sensor 4 Pack is a set of four motion sensors that use Zigbee technology to communicate with a compatible hub. The sensors are pet-friendly, which means that they are designed to ignore small animals and prevent false alarms. The sensors are compatible with a range of popular home automation platforms, including Home Assistant, SmartThings, Aeotec, Hubitat, and Echo devices with built-in Zigbee hub. One of the main benefits of these sensors is their ease of use and compatibility with a wide range of platforms. They are easy to install and set up, and they can be integrated into an existing smart home ecosystem with minimal effort. Additionally, the pet-friendly design is a nice touch that can prevent unnecessary alerts and make the sensors more practical for pet owners. However, those reasons explained above where non existen for me. Firstly, the sensors are prone to false alarms, even with the pet-friendly design. This can be frustrating and lead to unnecessary alerts that can quickly become a nuisance. Secondly, the sensors are not very durable and may stop working at any time (I’ve had it for a few days and constantly they decide not to work) Lastly, the sensors can be difficult to pair with some hubs, requiring manual intervention and technical knowledge that may be beyond the average user's abilities. In conclusion, the THIRDREALITY Zigbee Motion Sensor 4 Pack is a useful accessory for a smart home that can help enhance security and convenience. However, issues with false alarms, durability, and compatibility has been scratching my head on why I decided to purchase them. Please consider reading the reviews and you’ll see that several negative reviews are similar on why people return them.

Solid Zigbee motion sensor that’s affordable and reliable
Solid zigbee motion sensor that works as intended. Have other ThirdReality products and all have been pretty solid. Picked up fine via ZHA. The challenge really wasn’t the unit, it was to figure out where I can place it to get maximum value out of what this motion sensor offers as it is being used as a part of automation. Tiny enough to be less conspicuous or annoying, and I used Command Strip instead of provided double-sided tape as I had possibility of moving the unit to decide the best location and placement. Didn’t want to ruin the wall/ceiling/paint/box etc. No problem with 5lb Command Strip and stable. Sensor picks up motions really well without failures so far although I felt that sensitivity seemed a bit different if I placed it top side down (the side with actual sensor dome down towards the floor). Might be just me but this didn’t really change my experience. I’m only using this unit indoors with no intention of using it outside.

Easy to pair but low sensitivity
I purchased these sensors to replace my SONOFF SNZB-03 units, mainly because the SONOFF batteries are hard to find where I live. These sensors, on the other hand, use AAA batteries, which are much easier to source and therefore more practical. Integration with Home Assistant through ZHA was quick and seamless, showing good device compatibility. However, their motion detection sensitivity is noticeably lower compared to the SONOFF sensors. For example, one unit placed on a staircase rarely detects movement. I tried different orientations—even though the manual provides no guidance on positioning—but the issue persisted. What’s surprising is that other devices from this same brand, such as door/window sensors, buttons, smart plugs, and the night light, work flawlessly. Unfortunately, these motion sensors do not meet the same reliability standard, which is disappointing given the otherwise solid performance of the brand’s ecosystem.

Best motion sensor so far! - TR zigbee motion sensor
I will start by saying that these Third Reality (TR) motion sensors are the best all around I've tried so far. I'm coming back to grab a few more after testing out the first ones for a while. Because I have two echo flex units with the motion attachments (TR made) that have been rock solid, I took a chance on these zigbee motion sensors by them. Have had no issues at all so far. So nice for a change! In my current setup, I have these connected directly to my Alexa. They stay connected, do not freeze/forget state, have a reasonable cooldown time, and they trigger reliably. Additionally, battery capacity is extreme with 2x AAAs, (vs coin batteries). So, I'm not expecting I'll need to change these out anytime soon. Response time for lights is slower than my old setup, but all traffic used to be local vs cloud. Started this journey with Wyze sensors, reporting locally to Rpi with home assistant. Honestly, these were fantastic, really small, affordable, response time was amazing (local), but the sensors had a fatal design flaw, rendering them unrecoverable after a low batt condition. Wyze eventually discontinued support. I have been so happy with my Sonoff mini relays, that I went out and bought their motion sensors to replace the failed wyze ones, and an Alexa with zigbee hub to connect them. The Sonoffs turned out to be utter garbage and absolute disappointment. Read the reviews before buying. Such a contrast from my other experience with their relays. My one gripe on these, and other sensors, is the price. I need multiple sensors for my setup, and the price adds up quick. Wyze had it near perfect, but was crippled by a defect. Have heard good things about Hue sensors, and there are others, but they are too just expensive for what they are and do, and how many you need. There's just not that much going on inside one of these, they should not be $30, 40, 50. I bought sets of these TR units at two different times, both on sale. If you don't already have any motion control these are a great option to expand with. Some implementations I have around my place are more useful for me than others, but I've got a few motion routines I use everyday now that I can't live without. Note: When adding device directly to Alexa with built-in zigbee hub, "ThirdReality" is an option in the app, but don't use that, select "other" from the brands list, select "zigbee", then proceed.

Short range and inconsistent detection
I have only had it for a few hours but I am very underwhelmed at its performance thus far. FIRST- thank you to the reviewer below who indicated procedure for setting it up with an echo, only. The initial reason I even bought the big echo was to utilize the zigbee hub and take advantage of compatibility with products that support zigbee. Importantly, HOW to do so is explained nowhere by either echo or third reality. Sad. Which, btw, to do so, when adding devices in Alexa app, go to “other” at the way bottom and it’ll go from there. Do not select the product itself. Anyway, detection is extremely inconsistent and range is subpar. When testing it out, giving adequate time to refresh itself (which I shouldn’t have to and didn’t expect to), it does not trigger inside of 5-15 feet 4/5 times. Finding the spot it DOES trigger, trying to simulate a second time is extremely inconsistent. Maybe 1/5 goes. I was very excited about this product. I always do my research and it seemed this was a fan favorite but I would personally avoid this. Maybe got a bad sensor, bum product? I am going to return most likely unless there’s a dramatic shift in performance
