Great Curling Iron for a Great Price!
I'm a Hot Tools fan. I've been working on growing my hair out for quite some time, so I've been using the Hot Tools 24K Gold 1 inch barrel. The first time I curled my short hair with the 1 in I panicked! My hair was crazy! The curls didn't start until about 1/2 way down the shaft of my hair and they weren't tight enough. My hair dresser told me to get a 3/4 inch inch. I've never used a 3/4 inch before. It took forever to curl my hair. But my curls were tighter and they gave me more curl and volume at the root. I love Hot Tools. They are affordable and heat up fact and get hot. I now own a 1 3/4 in, a 1 inch and a 3/4 inch. 1 is ceramic, 2 are gold. I know that hairstylists use the gold, but I prefer the ceramic and wish I would have bought this in ceramic. For me, I find the hair tends to stick to the gold making it hard to seemlessly curl the hair. The pic below, the top pic is with the 1 inch Hot Tools, the bottom pic is with the new Hot Tools 3/4 inch Gold Plated Curling Iron.

Great curling iron....two extra springs included....
First, I meant to order the 1" curling iron so I'm going to give you the approximate circumference of the 3/4" one which is 2 7/8". When I hold the measuring tape up next to the barrel it measures 3/4". My hairdresser cut my layers a tad too short last time so my mistake worked in my favor. I'd be burning myself quite often if I was using the 1" size. I have a 1" Hot Tool curing iron, just like this one, that I've been using for over 6 years. My husband replaced the plug once because I had to keep wiggling the cord & plug to get everything in the proper place for the curling iron to stay on. Recently I began having problems with the cord again, but this time it's where the cord attaches to the handle & that is why I was ordering another curling iron. This new design is supposed to prevent that problem...only time will tell. I will update my review if necessary. These irons come with two extra springs...I didn't have to use the extra springs with my old one, but I'm very happy the extras are included. (We've had to replace the springs in other curling irons I've owned through the years. It was never easy to find a replacement spring). The temperature settings/numbers eventually wore off of my old one & I'm expecting this one to do the same because they're applied in the same manner. I have a favorite setting. I marked my old one with a silver permanent marker so I'd know which setting to use. Although these curling irons get very, very hot I do not & will not use the higher settings. For goodness sakes, my hair isn't made from asbestos. FYI: My hairdresser recently burned a section of my hair off when her curling iron was set too hot. Thankfully, it was in a hidden spot, I don't have long layers, and I was able to cover the burned off hair until it grew back. Anyway, let that be a warning to you...it can happen. I've used curling irons for years & years & years & that was a first for me & my hairdresser. I use the #7 temperature. It's the first setting on the 'Extra Hot' category. My baby fine hair is extremely hard to curl. If this curling iron lives up to its predecessor, I can expect many more useful years out of it. And, soon, I will be placing an order for the 1" size. Great curling iron!

Very Well-Made and Performs Perfectly
It's easy to see why this curling iron is a best seller. It offers an ON/OFF switch, broad range of heating options, fast heat-up, two extra springs (in case the original one ceases to work), and an eight-foot swivel cord. The tip is covered in rubber to protect your hands as you work. The clamp secures even fine, thin hair in place, making it practical for virtually everyone. Once the unit cools, I wipe off the rod and clamp to get rid of hair products that could build-up and interfere with performance. I mentioned to my hairdresser that this is the one I bought and she showed me her curling iron; this is the one she uses professionally. What better reference can you get than that?

great tool!
This was a gift for my daughter who loves mine (i have the same one)... it makes amazing curls in just the right size and i have even learned to do them without leaving a "clip" mark. Just make sure the stand is flipped down and away so you don't burn part of your face with it (yes, i did manage to get a mark on my forehead)...i use the hottest setting and it works like a charm...just add some beach spray if your hair is fine, so the curls stay better. Then separate and you have some awesome waves!

Hot Tools forever!
Recommended by a friend of mine who happens to be a celebrity hair stylist (Cold Play, Julia Roberts, many undisclosed), I own two Hot Tools curling irons now and they're the BEST thing I've EVER used to curl my hair. I have very fine, stick straight, long blonde hair with zero volume. There is nothing much I can do to actually hold a curl for a whole day, especially not in the Pacific North West constant dampness. I've tried hot rollers, steam rollers, products, other curling and flat irons. And (see above) the best hair cut for me possible. Nothing. Half the time the first part I curl is flat again by the time I'm done with the rest of my hair. The rest of the times it looks nice for 2-3 hours and then goes flat again. EXCEPT with these curling irons!!! I use the 3/4 inch one for all over (lower layer curls up all the way to the roots, I leave the top layer straight from the roots half way down and curl the lower half from my ears down. Comes out really nice!). And I have a 1 1/2 inch one for my bangs to softly frame the face. I use it on the hottest setting and hold it quite long, for about 15 seconds. It's perfect, the curls come out soft, springy, shiny and they last even through the next day! And yes, I do use a conditioner (Its a 10 miracle leave in, best thing in the world btw). Still holds the curls amazing! I love love love these. They're the best thing that ever happened to me :)

Instant, consistent, comfortable to use
I am so happy with the Hot Tools curling iron that I now have purchased several sizes. It is the best I've ever used! Heat settings go from 1 (low) to 10 (hot.) This iron does run hot - I have fine hair and use heat setting 3. As with any curling iron, you should start with the coolest setting and work your way up to the one that works for you - never start with the hot settings, and remember that it heats almost instantly, so don't be touching it with your finger to see if it is hot yet. One thing I love about it is that once the heat setting is selected, it doesn't change unless I want it to. The on/off switch is on the opposite side of the handle, so there isn't any easy way to accidentally change the heat selection. The handle is slim and very comfortable to grip. The cord never tangles. I bought my first Hot Tools curling iron several years ago and it still looks and works like new. I've used curling irons for many years, and this is far superior to any of the others I've owned. ADDENDUM: After almost daily use, my 4+year-old curling iron is just beginning to be intermittent. Not dead yet, but I've ordered another so I won't be without when it goes. Not a bad lifetime for a curling iron and it is still the best I've ever used.

Bought 2nd for travel!
Originally I bought this curling iron from my hair professional (at a much higher price). It has a smaller barrel than I was used to, but now that I've gotten accustomed to it, my larger irons seem useless. The iron heats up in a flash and can get super hot which works great with my thick, straight hair. The only thing I wish it had was an automatic turn off, but don't suppose that's a feature a professional would want. I like this so well, I purchased a second solely for travel. It comes with a spare spring, so is built to actually outlast the hardware! Its a great curling iron.
