This is the most wonderful mortar & pestle I could imagine. It is big enough to crush basil leaves aplenty to make pesto. Most are not. This set is well made and well finished. I love it!

Heavy duty, thick, sturdy, deep and good looking 😍 very happy with my purchase!1. cure it with rice and salt2. rinse (and brush) it under running hot water (without soap)3. season it with fresh ginger, garlic, salt, whole black pepper4. rinse (and brush) it under running hot water (without soap) until the water inside the mortar looks clear, then it's good to use!Will cure it again periodically for maintenance.

I like how long the large pestle is. It lets my hand clear the top of the mortar without smacking it regularly. The capacity of the mortar seems perfect! I couldn't see a smaller one being very useful which makes me feel sorry for people who order 2 cup capacity sets. It has held up well after fairly heavy use and is well seasoned.If you want to use both of the pestles you will need to break them both in when you're first season it. It's a very labor intensive process, but it's a great opportunity to learn how to use your new tool!

This product is a good size, i was pleasantly surprised. Even when you know the dimensions sometimes you're surprised when the product arrives - in this case everything was better than expected. Works very well and i'm very pleased with this product.

Indian using it for grinding spices & garlic garlic paste.I took the 8inch one, its big but i love it.Does every thing perfectly. I didnt see it break or chip at all. Used it 7 times now.And its heavy & stout.
